'It Might Have Been The Worst Coaching Job In The History Of The NFL' - Sean Payton, Wasted No Time Calling Nathaniel Hackett A Horrendous Coach

[Source] - “I’m going to be pissed off if this is not a playoff team,” Payton told USA TODAY Sports.

“It doesn’t happen often where an NFL team or organization gets embarrassed,” Payton said. “And that happened here. Part of it was their own fault, relative to spending so much (expletive) time trying to win the offseason – the PR, the pomp and circumstance, marching people around and all this stuff.

“Oh, man,” Payton began. “There’s so much dirt around that. There’s 20 dirty hands, for what was allowed, tolerated in the fricking training rooms, the meeting rooms. The offense. I don’t know Hackett. A lot of people had dirt on their hands.

“That was a message,” Payton said. “They can only beat the (expletive) out of you so much. But everybody’s got a little stink on their hands. It’s not just Russell. It was a (poor) offensive line. It might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL. That’s how bad it was.”

Oh, well then, hello there Sean Payton. I have no problem with this. What do you want him to say? Nathaniel Hackett was good last year? We all have eyes. We all saw how much of a trainwreck the Broncos were in terms of snapping the ball let alone having positive plays. I really don't think Hackett knew what the hell he was doing. There are no lies from Payton here in terms of it being a shit show.

But then he takes the shots at the Jets:

“We’re not doing any of that. The Jets did that this year. You watch. 'Hard Knocks,' all of it. I can see it coming. Remember when (former Washington owner) Dan Snyder put that Dream Team together? I was at the Giants (in 2000). I was a young coach. I thought, ‘How are we going to compete with them? Deion’s (Sanders) there now.’ That team won eight games or whatever. So, listen…just put the work in.”

That came out of nowhere. I know he was talking about the Broncos offseason last year in terms of the celebration of Russ and all the other stuff. But calling out the Jets by name for doing Hard Knocks and the Aaron Rodgers/other signings. That's just directly calling them out. There's no hiding the fact what he's saying here. Also makes that week 5 game way more interesting.

As for the Jets prediction, it's not that crazy? I mean every year there's a couple teams who have all these expectations and don't come close to it. This year it's pretty clearly the Jets and Lions. Both are expected to be in the playoffs, compete, all that stuff. One of those teams will be fine, one will fail miserably. Flip a coin and Payton went with the team in his conference.

I'm all for guys speaking their mind. I'd rather have this than the canned bullshit answers. But this is a dangerous game by Sean Payton. I don't think the Broncos are going to be a playoff team. I don't think Russ flips the switch back to what he used to be. Better than last year? Sure, not hard to do. But you got a long way to go, especially in a division with the Chiefs and Chargers - two playoffs teams obviously. Just laugh out loud funny to talk abut how much Nathaniel Hackett stunk as a Broncos head coach.
