Whoever Has DeAndre Hopkins' Old Cell Phone Number Duped A Journalist Into Using Fake Quotes About The Titans OC

[Source] - It turns out they were from someone with an old phone number of his who decided to play me by acting as if he was Hopkins when I reached out.

I foolishly fell for it, landing in a spot where I’ve got to write this post, apologize to you, thank him for being cool about it and walk away embarrassed and able to laugh at myself after a period of torture.

I’ve already told Tim Kelly it was bogus, though I imagine Pretty Boy Kelly may stick as a nickname for some since Imaginary DeAndre used it. Maybe that will serve to lighten the mood at times.

Oh man, nothing like getting some juicy quotes with DeAndre Hopkins joining the Titans only to have to apologize for texting with the wrong person. Here's more of the backstory:

[Source] - “The team is just amazing all around. Great guys, great coach, great staff,” Kuharsky said that Hopkins told him. He also added some thoughts on the influence of Tennessee OC Tim Kelly, whom Hopkins played for in Houston. “Great guy. Write that. Pretty boy Kelly. That’s his new name.”

Pretty boy Kelly, that's it? That's the only thing that happened and Paul Kuharsky wrote an entire article as if he ended a man's career. Now, sure, it's embarrassing. No one likes getting fooled by fake quotes or videos. Can't imagine that would ever happen here. Nope, we're full of professional Journalists who would never, NEVER, fall for a fake quote. We do our research (google, most likely). We maybe, MAYBE, ask a 2nd person 'hey does this seem real' and then you go with it. It's called safety. A little something you may learn in Journalism 101.

This is a little different though. He was texting Hopkins old cell phone number. I don't blame the guy pretending to be DeAndre Hopkins. Everyone wants to be a professional athlete and for one text message he got to be that. Reminds me of this bit:

I assume this is what the guy pretending to be Hopkins did. 'Okay, he thinks I'm DeAndre. What would DeAndre say about his offensive coordinator? What's a nickname?' Again, calling a guy Pretty Boy isn't that bad. It's funny and 100% going to be talked about with Vrabel and the gang. Just brutal to send a text to someone else. No need for the long ass apology. Just write something else and move on, pretend nothing happened. That's how the pros do it.
