Best Of 2023 - Fair or Foul: Taking Bacon Out Of The Trash And Offering It To Your New Co-Worker

The new BFW-WSD relationship is off to a HOT start. Brandon came on our snake draft and before we sat down to record WSD made the congenial gesture of offering the new guy some bacon from our local breakfast stop. Everyone loves bacon and the diner next door to the office fries it up real nice 9 out of 10 times. Only problem with WSD's move is that this time the bacon was mine and I had made the decision to put the bacon in the trash.

I like their bacon. It's why I ordered a side of it to go with my zucchini and tomato omelette. My eyes were bigger than my stomach that day and I didn't feel like eating the bacon so as I was cleaning up and getting ready to record I put the container in the trash can. WSD says he saw the bacon container in the trash and that it was closed. Now, I can't remember exactly to be honest, but I do believe I had a bite of one piece. Perhaps I closed it before throwing it away, but it was open at one time. Here is a reenactment of WSD pulling the bacon out of the trash.

Now, call me crazy…if I see a container of anything in the trash, open or not, I think it is safe to assume that something may be wrong with that item. I am not above pulling something out of the trash and eating it in the right situation, but…I'd have some questions first and if I couldn't adequately answer those questions I'd just leave the food right there.

I was stunned when I looked up from my computer through the studio glass to see BFW just sitting there chowing down on trash bacon. I barely know Brandon at this point. I've done a few shows with him over the years, but I can't say I know him well at all and he's new to the office. I didn't want him to feel judged. I had to broach the subject because…who sees food in the garbage can and just starts eating it? That is the behavior of a crazy person. Is my new coworker crazy? Another crazy person?! He said he got it from WSD. It all made sense. No mention of the diner bacon via the trash can. Just good bacon. How long was it there? Why was it there? Was something wrong with it? Nobody knows. Just some good ole fashion trash bacon for the new guy. A moment of generosity. Not going to ruin the moment or his good deed by saying the bacon came from the garbage. We are off to a hot start with this merger.
