Someone On The Flyers Social Media Team Got Frustrated With A Reporter's Repeated Question And Got Caught Bashing Them On A Hot Mic

Yeah someone's getting fired here. Sure, there's nothing to be proud of if you're a Flyers fan, as it's a sad and dark time to be a fan, but at least they have this clip.  What a pro's pro move by Garnet Hathaway though to ignore the comment completely and just continue answering the question. He's a better man than me because my ass would have been laughing hysterically.

I didn't even hear the "Flyers suck, why are you even watching" from some girl at the end until watching this clip back a second time. Just a double whammy for two social media employees who probably are just happy to be getting paid. Keep the second one around because her only crime there was spitting the cold hard truth. The worst part is that this whole thing was being streamed live on the Flyers socials. True nightmare stuff to be on a Zoom and realize you were unmuted, but even worse if it's live being watched by a bunch of happy fans excited to listen to their new player.

The question was kinda posed in a way that would make the Flyers look good too. I didn't really see a problem with it, but clearly whoever that guy is is just so finished with the team he doesn't wanna hear it. I'm not sure it would have made a difference if it were Connor McDavid up there as a new member of the team, that behind the scenes guy is beyond repair with this organization. And his mic volume was so loud there's no way to even slightly justify any of this.

I love hot mic situations. Seems like this stuff only gets more common with everything moving online over the last few years. Nothing better than pure bush league stuff on Zoom calls, or gambling livestreams bashing huge sponsors. That second one is just a hypothetical though. Anyway, love this move from one of the (currently) saddest franchises in all of hockey. Gotta stay relevant somehow, especially when every other team in your city are winners.
