The Luis Arraez Delusion Has Now Reached Discussing Him Making The HALL OF FAME If He Hits .400
Holy shit, I'm at my absolute wit's end with the Luis Arraez discourse. I desperately need this guy to hit an 0-13 stretch soon and bring his average down to .360, because I simply can't handle this discussion anymore.
What the hell are we even talking about at this point? I don't think it should be possible for a single season to get anyone into the Hall of Fame, but if there hypothetically is one, it would need to be something like .375/.550/.700, 60 HR, 150 RBI and 75 SB. Short of that, nobody needs to be having any conversations about one season getting anyone into the Hall of Fame, particularly just because their batting average is pretty high.
And that's not to say Arraez isn't a great hitter or isn't having an outstanding year, because both are absolutely true. And if he hits .360 over the next five or six seasons, maybe we can start having the discussion on what your batting average and on-base percentage need to be for them alone to get you into Cooperstown. Until that time, however, I need these batshit insane conversations to stop.
He's not winning the MVP. He's not going to the Hall of Fame. And he's probably not hitting .400 either, so just enjoy that while it lasts rather than making it into something it's not.
