BREAKING: David Corenswet Is Clark Kent, And Rachel Brosnahan Is Lois Lane For James Gunn's 'Superman: Legacy'

LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. David Corenswet seemed like the no-brainer choice all along for Clark Kent/Superman against the likes of Tom Brittney and Nicholas Hoult. The competition for Lois Lane was a little more difficult to gauge, but Rachel Brosnahan was rumored to have an excellent initial audition and won out in the end over Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor.

I've been Team Corenswet from the jump and thought Mackey would've been awesome as Lois, too. This is a hell of a combo in any event. RUN THE CORENSWET REEL AGAIN!!

Like...who else was gonna be cast as Clark? Corenswet gave off serious Smallville vibes in the horror flick Pearl, and he has swag and charisma for days. Google lists him at 6-foot-4, too, so he'll cut quite an imposing figure when he dons the superhero tights.

Brosnahan had nothing less than an iconic run in The Marvelous Mrs. MaiselShe's an acting badass who hasn't quite had that major, major breakthrough role on the silver screen. That's all about to change in very short order. Well, rather when Superman: Legacy releases on July 11, 2025.

I really do feel for Nicholas Hoult. He was the last man out against Robert Pattinson to take the lead of The Batman and was no worse than bronze medalist to be Kal-El, last son of Krpyton. There's speculation that Hoult might put his hat in the ring for Lex Luthor with the Skarsgard Bros Alexander and Bill, who are reportedly on the short list for Supes' archenemy.

According to the Deadline report, the potential SAG-AFTRA strike on June 30 slightly expedited the casting process.

In any event, Superman: Legacy is going to launch a whole new DC Universe across all media platforms that'll tell one cohesive, epic story. Kind of refreshing after all the turnover and turmoil Warner Bros. has undergone over the past 10 years with their DC properties. I think James Gunn is going to deliver an excellent movie — and needs following The Flash's box office flop. I can't wait to see what Corenswet and Brosnahan do with these legendary characters.

The only bummer here is we're still so far out from Legacy's release date. However, I think it's smart for DC Studios to take a bit of a breather to make sure they get this Superman relaunch right. Now we wait to see who'll embody Lex, who'll nab the Jimmy Olsen part, and which other big-name actors might fill out the cast. Hell of a start with Corenswet and Brosnahan getting top billing.
