Hornets GM Mitch Kupchak's Answer As To Why They Believe In Brandon Miller Is An Absolutely Wild Ride

Before the Draft, we learned that despite selling his majority shares that Michael Jordan would have the final call as to who the Hornets drafted last night. Seemed a little weird at the time, but it's MJ and I'm pretty sure you don't tell that guy no under any circumstances. So, after all the Scoot/Brandon Miller back and forth we finally had a decision

Now whether you think this was the right or wrong move is another topic for another blog. Maybe you thought they should have just taken the better player and figured out the rest later, maybe you think this is a great fit, but what I'm always interested in is hearing from the team so we can learn why they did what they did. Usually it's canned answers, but every once in a while you get some actual nuggets of info that are valuable.

Then there are times you get whatever the hell happened with Mitch Kupchak

That's a guy that was fighting like hell to say anything other than

"MJ forced this pick and we have no real idea why, he just wanted him so he got him"

I mean, there isn't a coherent thought in that entire clip. Why did they draft Miller? Don't you see, they got every answer to every question. Don't forget he's young, well maybe not. Actually yeah, he's young. Well you know what? I'm just gonna back off.

We've all been in this spot before. Maybe it's when you're in school clearly not paying attention and the teacher calls on you and your brain just throws out words that mean absolutely nothing and don't even really make sense. If you've been in the cubes, I can guarantee you've had this happen while you were supposed to be listening in a Zoom meeting or something. You've been on mute, you're probably scrolling Twitter or something and then you suddenly hear your name. That's a level of panic everyone can relate to.

As a Hornets fan, would this have you feeling confident today? Does this give off the vibes that this organization has any idea what the hell they're doing? They got lucky with LaMelo sure, but everything else? How do the Hornets not have a prepared statement for a question like this given the fact that they've known they've had the #2 pick for like a month? You can literally give the most PR answer of all time and move on, and instead we got that. Yikes.

And hey, for all we know Brandon Miller works out well playing next to LaMelo and this pick ends up being fine. Then maybe the new ownership takes over and cleans house, sort of like what the Suns owner just did. Either way, I wouldn't say that answer fro Kupchak instills any sort of confidence for Hornets fans, so just focus on the highlights instead
