A Mayor In Mexico Decided To Throw A Father's Day Party For Local Dads That Had Live Music, A Comedy Show, And Strippers Giving Lap Dances

Daily Mail- A Mexican mayor has come under fire for hiring female strippers to perform at a Father's Day event in the southern town of Huehuetán, which shares a border with Guatemala. Hundreds of dads turned out Saturday at the municipality's auditorium where Mayor Miguel Villalobos treated them to live music, a comedy show and a raffle of televisions, fans and microwaves before a group of dancers stepped out.

The invite for the controversial event was posted on Villalobos' Facebook account June 2 and again Friday, and clearly barred women and children from attending.  'Tomorrow! Don't forget, an event just for dads, the day has arrived,' the mayor's caption read.

Local media outlets reported that there were mothers in the building who were disgusted and walked out with their children while the strippers were performing.

Wow, you really do learn something new every day, or in this case two new things!

First off, just this week I wondered if Father's Day was one of those holidays that was celebrated worldwide on the same day like other holidays of similar importance, like Christmas. Or could it be one of those more nichey things like Halloween where each country has their own twist on it and celebrate it on different days. Since my brain has been ruined by years of addiction on social media, I quickly moved to the next thing in my life without looking it up. So a belated Happy Father's Day to all the dads, papas, papis, pas, otousans, abeojis, abees, baas, babas, fars, apas, tatos, and papais out there!

So you can imagine my surprise when I found out that not only did Mexico celebrate Father's Day this Sunday but they also had a mayor who apparently was getting lap dances for all the dads on their big day. I've long said that the moms are the MVP of the family and only a complete idiot would try to fight that claim. But the dads are the very important player that makes sure to handle their role as well as they can, even if it doesn't come with the glory that others may get. Think Aaron Gordon on this year's Nuggets team or pretzels in a snack mix.

Which is why I love to see these dads had the time of their lives listening to some live music, getting some laughs during a comedy show, dreaming the dream of winning a raffle for low-medium end electronics, and then getting a lap dance for all the work they put in behind the scenes. Sure not all of that is for everyone, as the flyer clearly laid out. But Father's Day should be about a father doing what he wants on his one day of the year, no matter what it may be.

I mean I took my kids to a Mets game started by Cookie Carrasco, who gave up 5 earned runs in 3 innings before the Mets rallied for a comeback that once again ended coming up short. That experience, along with all the upcoming experiences they will have as Mets fan, is much worse than what any of those kids experienced in Mexico, right?

Anyway, a Happy Father's Day to all the dads in that video, who I hope were all smart enough not to get into the doghouse on their big day.
