This Clip Of Harrison Ford Tearing Up While Talking About Indiana Jones Had Me Feeling Things I Wasn't Ready To Feel
I love Harrison Ford. I love Harrison Ford because he's never given a shit about actually being a movie star. Don't get me wrong, he's one of the biggest stars of all time, but he's not willing to play the game, and I love it. Harrison Ford's press junket run when promoting "The Force Awakens" is one of the all-time greats. You can tell he's happy with how the movie turned out, but he couldn't give less of a shit about the Star Wars legacy. Even though he's pretended to be other people his entire career, I honestly respect that he couldn't even pretend to care about Star Wars or most of his movies.
The same cannot be said about the Indiana Jones series. The juxtaposition between Harrison Ford's energy when he's promoting an Indiana Jones film versus literally every other movie he's ever promoted in his career is staggering. He is so passionate about this character and while I won't claim to be the biggest Indiana Jones fan in the world, I really hope this new one delivers. It's currently getting mixed reviews, which surprises me because I love the people who are attached to the project. The director James Mangold has been on a roll lately and is responsible for one of the best cinematic sendoffs in film history with "Logan."
Let's talk about the clip that I posted up front. First off, shoutout Ali Plumb. Outside of having maybe the most British name of all-time, he is consistently one of the best interviewers on press junkets. I've watched many interviews in my day, and 90% of them annoy me. Most people ask the most generic questions to which fans already know the answer. Plumb is one of the few who has a great attitude toward the whole process. He even got Christopher Nolan to laugh a few years back.
It's genuinely wholesome to see Harrison Ford, a man known for phoning in so many interviews (and let's be honest, he's phoned in a few performances as well), genuinely moved by the idea that Indiana Jones has impacted so many people. Seeing Harrison Ford cry is like seeing your dad cry for the first time. You've always known it's possible but figured you'd never see it. Here's hoping Indy gets a proper sendoff.
