There's No More GOAT Debate in Tennis, Novak Djokovic Wins The French Open And His Record 23rd Grand Slam Title

It was fun for about an hour, but in the end Novak Djokovic reigned supreme over Casper Ruud to win his record-breaking 23rd grand slam title. While it was nice to give Casper a small chance of making this a match, this was always going to be breeze for the Serbian. Djokovic is now 5-0 head to head, having won all 11 sets played. Once Djokovic got through Carlos in the semis it was over.

And sure this one started off the train tracks for Novak, falling behind 3-0 in the opening set. It's not entirely rare to see Djokovic drop one early only to feel out his opponent and crush them later. Seemed like we were headed for that this morning before Novak woke up and pushed to an opening tiebreak where he completely dominated.

From there the match was over. Ruud was gassed, having put everything into that first hour. Djokovic cruised from there in total control. His serve and forehand were both unmatched today. Casper had no answer.

Doing this all in front on Tom Brady who was seated in his player's box.

One GOAT in attendance to see the other. Yeah there's not much else to say. Men's record 23 slams. First to win each slam 3+ times. World number one again. 36 years old and no signs of stopping either. How can you possibly make a case for anyone else right now? You can't and that's coming from me. He's won more than 50% of the slams he's played in since 2014. Dude's a machine. The real question now is if he has it in him to complete the calendar slam that he narrowly failed at a few years ago. I can't imagine he gets challenged much at Wimbledon, which then leaves the US Open where Carlos Alcaraz is the defending champ. Hopefully by then he figures out the cramping stuff and we get a well-deserved rematch in the finals in New York. Until then it's Novak's world.
