I Find It Absolutely Hilarious The NFL Is Making The Jags Stay In London For Back To Back Games

NFL.com - The National Football League has announced the opponents, dates, and locations for the five international Games to be played in 2023 across London, UK and Frankfurt, Germany.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will kick off the 2023 NFL International Games on Sunday, October 1, as they play the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium, in what will be their landmark 10th regular season home game in London.

The London focus then shifts to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the Buffalo Bills take on the Jacksonville Jaguars* on Sunday, October 8. This game for Jacksonville means they will play two regular season games outside of the US – a first for the NFL.

The London / International games for The NFL are like the brunch after a wedding. It's a great idea in theory, but it almost never delivers, and is more often than not a bad idea. Think about it, on paper it sounds great. Have a nice meal with family and friends, soak up the booze from the night before, talk to a few aunts and uncles without Usher and Tiesto blaring on the dance floor. In reality, it's a bunch of awkward conversations everyone's head is pounding, the food's never that good, and you realize that the hour and a half you spent there could have been a dent into the drive home. Better off getting a drive through and powering through. The same goes for the NFL London games. Will we watch them? Yes. Are more standalone games better for us to watch? Sure, but they pretty much suck. 

We get a few decent ones this year with the Chiefs, Dolphins, Colts, and Pats. But more often than not the games stink. They stink because it seems like they ALWAYS involve the Jags. What if I told you the Raiders and Dolphins have played 5 games each outside the US, and that the Jags have nearly doubled them with 9. We ship the Jags to London on the regular without even blinking.

It gets even crazier this year that the NFL is making the Jags play back to back games in London. Week 4 against the Falcons and then Week 5 against the Bills. Two full weeks on the road? And reminder this ain't the Cabo or The Bahamas games. This is London. It rains and it's cold. Not necessarily an ideal road trip. I also find one of the worst parts to be that The Bills is the 2nd game of the back to back. Can't you just see the Jags already worn out from sleeping on hotel beds, being homesick and dealing with a boatload of other shit and The Bills come in and hammer them to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and the Jags? I could see guys just packing it the fuck in. I sure as shit would. 

Regardless of if you are a Jags fan or not, it is objectively very funny that The NFL respects the Jags so little it sends it on back to back weeks to London, and one in a game where they will likely get their ass kicked. Poor bastards … enjoy the trip.
