50 Cent Announces He’s Going On One Last Tour This Summer Called “The Final Lap” And He’s Taking Busta Rhymes With Him
CoS- 50 Cent has announced “The Final Lap Tour” to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his debut album, Get Rich or Die Trying.
The massive outing spans nearly 50 dates and includes lengthly runs in North America, the UK, and Europe. Busta Rhymes will join 50 Cent for the duration of the tour, while Jeremih will also provide support on the North American leg.
Well this is fucking awesome news. The press release stated this will be a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s 2003 debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, and will feature a set list comprised of 50’s greatest hits and tracks he hasn’t performed live in decades according to a release. He will be joined on all the dates by his longtime friend Busta Rhymes and by Jeremih on the North American dates, with more guests to be announced later.
I don't know whether to fist pump with excitement that this is happening, or cry a single tear that 50 Cent feels he's too old to continue the whole "rap" life thing and is going out in grand fashion?
Make no mistake, this is how it's done. Taking a page out of the Derek Jeter handbook here- announcing your retirement before going on a nationwide (and international in this case) tour, to have his knob slobbed by every city he stops in, all the groupies that reside there, and all the notable rappers and celebs from there. 50 will have every rapper in every city coming out of the woodwork for these shows to pay homage and "give him his flowers" as the kids say these days.
I just hope and pray that with his older age he's wised up and realized carrying the grudges he still does against Young Buck and The Game are stupid at this point. Bring the whole G-Unit family back together 50! Please!
Get Banks, Tony Yayo, Game, and Young Buck all back together, and up on stage for these shows.
The fact that he's doing this all around the 20th anniversary of Get Rich Or Die Tryin' is amazing. For a few reasons. First off, how the fuck is that album 20 years old? Sheesh.
Secondly, when you talk about all-time albums, not just all-time debut albums, but just "in general" incredible albums, GRODT is on that list.
When those drums on "Many Men" hit, these concert arenas are going to explode.
Add to it the fact he's bringing Busta Rhymes with him and this makes for a very entertaining evening.
I saw Busta last summer in Aspen at Food & Wine, at some house party event, and he absolutely fucking crushed it. Has not skipped a beat.
He will crush and make showing up at doors for these shows more than worth it.
And for those not from Chicago, asking who the fuck Jeremih is, let me remind you.
