Pedro Pascal Has Been Cast In 'Gladiator 2'
(Deadline) EXCLUSIVE: While the second season of HBO’s hit series The Last Of Us is in the works, its star Pedro Pascal looks to have found the project he’ll shoot during its hiatus and boy is it a big one. Sources tell Deadline, Pascal is in final negotiations to join the untitled Gladiator sequel for Paramount. He joins Paul Mescal, who will star as Lucius, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, Connie Nielsen and Denzel Washington. Ridley Scott is returning to direct.
Wow. We have come a loooooooooong way from the originally planned a ways back. Pascal is on an absolute heater right now and getting into this movie almost makes too much sense. There is no info on what the role is but I would love to see him as a villain in this. It would be a nice change of pace from being everyones favorite father figure and/or sex symbol.
Plot details are still pretty scarce so far but we do know that the movie is going to take place years after the original with Paul Mescal playing Lucius, the young kid from the original movie. Joseph Quinn, who you'll prob know as Eddie Munster or whatever from Stranger things, is going to be playing Caracalla, widely considered to be a real piece of a shit Emperor. Dude murdered his own brother and was a big time lover of ordering massacres.
There is obviously one other MASSIVE name attached in Denzel, whose role is apparently badass. Barry Keoghan is also having a big time moment over the last few years which is awesome, especially when you read about his life story. Lastly, getting at least one returning actor in Connie Nielsen is also nice. We don't need force ghost Maximus or any shit like that in our lives.
Ridley Scott's gone a little while since having a certified banger, so we should all be pulling for this to be it.
