30 Hits, 27 Runs, And 11 Homers - The Giants And Padres Mexico City Slugfest Was One Big Fever Dream

I woke up today and scanned the baseball betting board in search of an appetizing opportunity. It was there I stumbled upon the Giants and Padres over under of 15.5. What in the name of juiced balls and high altitude did we have here? Mexico City baby. With an altitude over 7,300 feet the ball absolutely flies outta this place. Combine that with baseball's new rules which promote offense and you're looking at a hilariously high scoring affair. 

I've always been a fan of betting whether a run will or will not be scored in the first inning. The "yes runs" bet for this was -245. I've never seen anything like that before. Funny thing is it only hit because Sean Manaea got drilled by a come backer which skidded off near the dugout. If it avoids him the ball was ticketed straight to the second baseman who was playing up the middle. From that point on it was chaos. For whatever reason the bet I landed on was Padres team total runs over 8.5. There was never a moment in this game where I worried about that bet hitting which is really all you can ask for. 

The final result? Padres 16 Giants 11. This one had 27 runs scored on 30 hits, including 11 homers. It wasn't a fun time to be a pitcher. Each team hit back to back homers twice, which has never happened before in MLB history. You realistically stood no chance out on the mound. Honestly ERA's shouldn't reflect anything from this game. Good time to pretend you're sore or something so your name doesn't get called to warm up. 

Tomorrow's over/under opened around 15 it looks like with Alex Cobb facing Yu Darvish. As I check the Barstool Sportsbook at this very moment it's up to 20.5.

Incredible fun. I'm all for these crazy international games that feel like one big fever dream. The London series between the Sox and Yanks a couple years ago was outrageous. Cubs and White Sox will be back there later this year. High altitude, high altitude, and an electric atmosphere from fans who never get to see major league baseball. Just take the over and enjoy the show.
