Will Levis Shuts Down The Reddit Rumor That He Is Going To Be The No. 1 Pick Because The Internet Is A Liar (Sometimes)

You may remember this story from yesterday: 

Now the good news is this website right here never lies. I will never lie to you. It's called Journalistic integrity. I didn't sit through classes for four years to have a degree to work for Barstool Sports and be called a liar. No sir. So here's what I'll say. Will Levis isn't going to go No. 1. I'm guessing - see you can use code words like this to protect yourself - Levis had a couple of meetings with the Panthers, said it went well, and someone ran with it. 

But this is why the Internet sucks and rules all at once. I - and most of us - have talked about how good the old days were. The days when rumors spread via word of mouth and you had to wait for the actual draft to see what happened. But for a day we got to live in a world where a Reddit rumor led to chaos. It's so dumb that you can only laugh at it. I like to imagine the guy who started that rumor had himself a day. Probably got himself a nice steak for being the talk of the Internet streets. 

Now as for Levis himself and as a pick? I think he'll be fine. I say this as someone who watched every single one of his snaps and every single second he played the last two years. I know people like to point at his stats but it doesn't tell the whole story. Year 1 he had a good offensive line in front of him, Chris Rodriguez at running back and only one weapon to throw to - Wan'Dale Robinson. Year 2 Levis was injured, had a below average line while finally having his weapons. Could his stats be better? Of course. Anyone with a brain could tell you that we all wanted to see Levis be a little more consistent. But the dude makes plays. He has a big time arm, can run and there are times you see him throw and go yep, that's an NFL guy. 

It's also the NFL. People are going to take quarterbacks early because you need to keep trying to hit on one. That's why he's a first round pick in a draft that many are saying is a down year. So don't believe you everything you read on the Internet, but you can believe me. A true beacon of journalism and blogging. Now back to finding someone in a bikini to blog.
