Breaking Down Quinn Ewers Vs Arch Manning's Spring Game: The Sleeper Cell of the QB Battle

First things first, I need to show you Texas's QB, who is not getting anywhere close to enough attention. 

Maalik Murphy is definitely the 2nd... maybe even the best, QB on the roster. 

Everyone has been hyping up Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning. Meanwhile Texas has a  6'5 230lb hoss who can run a 4.5 and methodically worked through progressions and made post-snap reads to option routes. Guess what? He is a redshirt freshman and only a year older than Arch. 

I mean, check these stats

QB Quinn Ewers: 16 of 23 for 195 yards, 1 TD 

QB Maalik Murphy: 9 of 13 for 165 yards, 1 TD

QB Arch Manning: 5 of 13 for 30 yards

The fact is Arch Manning is 17 years old; he's pretty young for even a senior in high school. We should have never expected him to do much in the first place. Check out his reps:

He made plays when opportune, but you could tell the guy was a fish out of water. The transition from the competition he had in Highschool, which was not the best, to college is a way bigger jump than a guy like Maalk Murphy, who was playing high-level Cali ball. Arch should be catching senioritis with his high school buddies and fucking off during senior skip days. Maalik is the defacto starter if Ewers goes down, and a guy I think could outshine Ewers if it comes down to it. Ewers balled the fuck out solidifying he is the Alpha for the season. 

He threw a goddamn no-look touchdown (yes, it had to be grabbed one-handed, but that's insane). 

If Ewers gets hurt or has an amazing season and goes straight to the draft, Maalik Murphy, at this point, would be the de facto starter if he does not transfer at some point. Arch's inexperience with higher talent and having only 15 practices under his belt really showed. I am not bashing the Manning hype; his ceiling is still Peyton-- with even more mobility.
