Pat Bev Hit LeBron With A "Too Small" Gesture As The Bulls Beat The Lakers In The King's Return
Something about being back in his hometown seems to have reinvigorated Chicago Bulls guard Patrick Beverley of Barstool Sports. Sorry just thought I'd linger on that fact again because it's pretty damn awesome.
Pat Bev started this season on the Lakers, and is now gleefully sabotaging their playoff hopes. Meanwhile, a run of seven wins in the last nine games has Chicago inside the East's play-in bubble by a comfortable margin.
Raise your hand if you expected LeBron to even be out there today. Certainly was a shock to me. Then again he's pretty damn tough and more so than people give him credit for. All things considered — not least of which the high probability that he's not all that close to 100% healthy — he played reasonably well with 19 points, eight boards and three assists.
Rust was obviously a factor, though, as The King committed five of LA's 18 turnovers. The Bulls only gave up the ball nine times. Such a disparate, 2-to-1 turnover margin almost guaranteed Chicago would come out on top. Pat Bev had a line of 10-4-5 with zero TOs. Not bad!
Knowing the boulder-sized chip Pat Bev carries on his shoulder, I'm sure he feels a certain type of way getting tossed around to different teams in recent years. In the last calendar year alone, he's been in Minnesota, Utah, LA, and briefly Orlando before a contract buyout. That led to his homecoming in the Windy City.
Being dealt by the Lakers as they overhauled their roster around the trade deadline is something our guy seemed to use as fuel in Sunday's contest. If you're telling LeBron he's too small, you're feeling yourself. Talk all your shit about Pat Bev, but I'll personally defend him to the end of the Earth. His competitive tenacity, supreme confidence and authenticity are qualities you can't help but respect. Just sucks to suck when he's playing against your team.
