Everything About That Gonzaga/UCLA Game Was Fucking Awesome
Holy - and I can't emphasize this enough - shit. What a shot. I mean running the Nova/Jenkins pitchback play and firing up that deep of a shot to win is fucking insane.
Awesome. But insane. Especially when everyone thought UCLA won it on this Bailey shot:
New rule though. UCLA/Gonzaga need to play every year in the NCAA Tournament. This was the anniversary of the Morrison game. You remember.
Both teams somehow looked great, choked away the game only to win it again. UCLA looked like they were going to run Gonzaga out of the building. They had all the momentum. They were doing whatever they wanted on offense. Jacquez in ISO. Bailey attacking. Campbell attacking.
But this guy. This guy, who everyone likes to shit on, reminded why he's an All-American.
I'll say something here. Drew Timme is good. I know he got destroyed by Baylor in the title game in 2021. But guess what? Dude is fucking good. I enjoy watching him play. I love that he talks shit, even if he's losing. I love that he says whatever is on his mind. I love watching his footwork in the post because I'm a basketball nerd. But this is the guy that let Gonzaga hang around enough before they held UCLA to no field goals in 11 minutes. 11 minutes!
I still can't believe Strawther pulled up from there. There was plenty of time! I mean good shot and all but holy shit this is why there's nothing like the NCAA Tournament. The first two rounds are awesome, but there's always something special about the Sweet 16. The Thursday night Sweet 16 games delivered - well 3 of them.
Unreal.
