The NCAA basketball tournament always steals the headlines come March, but let’s not forget the NCAA hockey tournament is getting underway this week!! The Frozen Four is in Tampa on April 6th and 8th and the Chiclets Game Notes crew will have boots on the ground, so we need to know which 4 teams will meet us down there.

Fargo Regional, March 23-25 | Scheels Arena – Fargo, ND

Game 1: 5 p.m. ET Thursday, March 23 (2) St. Cloud State vs. (3) Minnesota State

St Cloud State - (24-12-3)  Won the NCHC tournament to punch their ticket.

Player to Watch: Finnish forward Jammi Krannila led the team in scoring with 21 goals and 40 points in 39 games.

Huskies Game Note: They were 3-1 vs. Minnesota State this season and beat them 2 years ago in the Frozen four. 

Minnesota State - (25-12-1) Won the CCHA regular season and tournament titles.

Canisius College - (20-18-3) Cinderella team finished 4th in the AHA regular season but won the tournament to punch their ticket.

Golden Griffins Game Notes: The city of Buffalo finally gets some playoff hockey again. Their average age of 23.03 makes them the oldest team in the Tournament.
