Kenan And Kel Went On Fallon To Confirm That 'Good Burger 2' Is Coming Right Up

WELCOME TO GOOD BURGER HOME OF THE GOOD BURGER CAN I TAKE YOUR ORDER?? Soon enough, likely sometime in 2024, we will see a long-awaited Good Burger sequel on Paramount+.

I remember watching All That way back in the day and cracking up at whatever Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell did. Then, they had their own sitcom Kenan & Kel as a sort of spin-off from that. But of course, their most popular All That sketch was to do with the subject of this blog, and it led to Kenan and Kel starring in their own Good Burger movie in 1997.

Mitchell's character of Ed sticks out as one of the most unique comedic characters I've ever seen in sketch comedy. There's a mix of silly stupidity and something innocent and endearing beneath it all that makes him so damn fun to watch. You can tell Kel hasn't missed a beat putting that Good Burger cap back on.

They even did a live rendition of the "I'M A DUDE" song on Fallon!!

Here we have a quick Good Burger 2 synopsis, courtesy of Variety:

"Dexter Reed (Thompson) is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed (Mitchell) welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new crew working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again."

The uppity critics at Rotten Tomatoes apparently thought the OG flick was worth a splat 33% rating. I vehemently disagree with this consensus take. It's not like these fine folks were setting out to make Citizen Fucking Kane. It was a Good Burger movie, and it actually shed light on how much of a flavor-making genius Ed is. We're talking character growth and depth, people! He has the secret sauce that makes Good Burger so...good. Bad news: Ed's recipe falls into the wrong hands, and as you might imagine (since it's Ed), he has nobody but himself to blame.

It's a really cool full circle type of moment for Kenan and Kel to jump back to Jimmy Fallon's show to break this news. They reunited several years ago for a Good Burger sketch and it did not disappoint in the slightest.

Twenty-seven million views on YouTube. Not bad! Just goes to show how popular these guys were back in the day. While Mitchell has faded from the spotlight in recent years, Thompson has been a mainstay on Saturday Night Live for a long-ass time. Once he wraps the latest season of SNL, Good Burger 2 will begin rolling cameras sometime in the summer, according to the Fallon interview.

I still almost can't believe it. Good Burger is back, baby!! Am I the only one pumped as hell for its revival? This news really is a strong right hook to the face of nostalgia. If Kenan and Kel are banding back together after all this time, you have to imagine they have a pretty good story that they feel like they can execute. They'll definitely have to evolve the characters a bit to match the current times. Let's hope there's something fresh in store while still retaining that trademark Good Burger charm.
