The NCAA Tournament Committee Screwing Texas A&M Because Of Buzz Williams Is Easily The Best Selection Sunday Conspiracy Theory

“Suppose if A&M and North Carolina are the last two teams this year. Well, there might be one, two or three leftover committee members who go, ‘That guy just would not shut up. Did he have to put out a term paper?’

“To me, that is just bad politics. And frankly, I would have scheduled a little better, too, to take that out of the equation.”

“Had I been working at Texas A&M, I would have advised against it,” Lunardi said. “Because in my real life for 40 years, I was a strategic communications professional in higher ed. There was way more bad than good that could have come out of making a stink.”

Hell yes. I love a good NCAA Tournament conspiracy theory. It's something I look forward to every year. Shit this year we got Bryce Hopkins vs Kentucky storyline, Pitino vs UConn, possible Texas A&M/Texas but none and I mean none in a long time match the committee screwing A&M because of Buzz. 

Here's the backstory.

Last year A&M made a run late in the season and lost in the SEC Finals. A bunch of people thought they'd sneak their way into the Tournament but were first out. Looking at their resume it made sense and wasn't like some outrageous thing ... except if you're Buzz Williams. You see Buzz, who I love, decided to go over the top: 

Still such an outrageous move. Nine page packet to prove why it defies logic. That's dedication. That's a lot of research and highlighting things and everything else. But then I saw this article and tweet from A&M's 247 site. It wasn't the only one I saw. I saw a ton of people saying this is why A&M was a 7 seed and not a 6. 

I could be logical here and say well they have 2 quad 4 losses and were just 7-6 in Quad 1 games while having a weak nonconference schedule. That would check out as to why they would fall to a 7 seed. But that's not fun. We're going to go with the group of dorks who make the bracket having a vendetta against Buzz and a 9-page packet. It's one of my NCAA Tournament conspiracy theories in a long time. Even better that Lunardi was quoted in that article from a month ago about how it could impact A&M. 

I hope Buzz leans even more into this. Make a 10-page packet next season about why A&M deserved a better seed. Fuck it. Annoy the committee every year and see what happens.
