Believe: Jason Sudeikis Is Talking Like 'Ted Lasso' Will End After This Season, But Spinoffs Are A Real Possibility

[Source] - Jason Sudeikis is not ready to say his Apple TV hit Ted Lasso is ending after season 3, but he does suggest that the upcoming episodes seem to wrap up his Emmy-winning comedy quite nicely.

This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell. The fact that folks will want more and are curious beyond more than what they don’t even know yet—that being Season 3—it’s flattering. Maybe by May 31, once all 12 episodes of the season [have been released], they’re like, ‘Man, you know what, we get it, we’re fine. We don’t need anymore, we got it.’ But until that time comes, I will appreciate the curiosity beyond what we’ve come up with so far.”

There have been talks as to whether the comedy could be spun off into a new iteration. (We vote for The World According to Keeley Jones). Sudeikis, who developed Ted Lasso with Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly, seems open to the idea.

“Yeah, I think that we’ve set the table for all sorts of folks…to get to watch the further telling of these stories,” he said.

This isn't the first time we've heard something along these lines. It always seemed like a shorter series because, again, how many stories can you tell? We already relegation and promotion. You can only do that story so many times. Now season 3 should wrap it all up with Nate being the dweeb villain along with Rupert. You have Richmond back in the Premier League and the story has basically already been told. Now it's wrapping it up.

Here's what I don't want though. I don't want the happy ending. I don't want Nate to be best friends with Ted again. I want to see Richmond ripping the heart out of that piece of shit Nate and West Ham. The show has actually done an awesome job of blurring personalities, seriousness and comedy. Now give us what we want. No heartwarming ending. No turnaround like we saw with Jamie. Just give us Nate being a little bitch. 

Hell, I don't even want Richmond to win the Premier League. I want TV to be somewhat realistic. This team ain't pulling a Leicester. Just wrap up the stories and we can move on. Now that said, it does sound like there can be some spinoffs. Great. Why?

Well, first this is a great couples show. That's key. If you can sit down and knock out a season of TV with a significant other where neither feels like they are giving in, that's a huge win. And I think it's obvious. The spinoff needs to be Roy Kent. He's the most beloved character of the show. You can do him and Keeley and whatever they decide to do. You could do another two seasons and keep people interested. 

Either way I'm pumped for season 3, especially if it's the last one. I know it's easy to keep going but I'd prefer a show to end when the storylines are done and can get stale.
