Owning DVD's Will Always Be A Better Option Than Streaming

I posted the above video and people seemed to more confused with my DVD collection in the background than my baseball cards. One thing everyone can agree on is that I sit like a 5 year old.

Physical media is absolutely the way to go. In just the last few months, a number of movies and shows have been pulled from streaming services. 

SOURCE - In the last few months, scores of shows have been yanked from various platforms, including Westworld, Raised By Wolves, The Time Traveler’s Wife, FBoy Island, The Nevers, Love Life, Minx andGordita Chronicles by HBO Max; Dangerous Liaisons, Becoming Elizabeth and Step Up by Starz, and Jordan Peele’s reboot of The Twilight Zone, along with Real World: Homecoming, Interrogation, Coyote, No Activity, Guilty Party, Kidding, Super Pumped, On Becoming A God In Central Florida, American Rust and The Harper House by Showtime and Pantheon, 61st Street and Moonhaven by AMC+.

You can't trust streaming companies to keep up your favorite shows. Look at Arrested Development. Netflix even produced the most recent seasons! The older some of these shows get, the harder they are going to get to find.

Even popular shows aren't safe. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia has had five epsiodes pulled from Hulu because they were deemed offensive. If you are a fan of The Sopranos or South Park and you think every single episode will be available and unedited 10 or 20 years from now, you are much more optimistic than I am.

I don't want to deal with a world where I can't watch my favorite things if I want to. So I bought box sets of my favorite shows and movies and even a couple backup DVD players if (and when) PlayStation stops making models that have a disc option. 

As more and more media companies keep cutting these shows and movies from libraries, maybe you'll see a comeback in physical media. I sure hope so. I also love collecting things. It makes me feel good to add another movie to my set. I'll be really upset if you see companies stop producing DVD's. 

I may sit like a total weirdo but I might also be the rare person still able to see Tony Soprano is all of his unedited glory in 2038.
