The U.S Has A Long History With Balloons

From the Smithsonian:

Elsye Mitchell almost didn’t go on the picnic that sunny day in Bly, Oregon. She had baked a chocolate cake the night before in anticipation of their outing, her sister would later recall, but the 26-year-old was pregnant with her first child and had been feeling unwell. On the morning of May 5, 1945, she decided she felt decent enough to join her husband, Rev. Archie Mitchell, and a group of Sunday school children from their tight-knit community as they set out for nearby Gearhart Mountain in southern Oregon. Against a scenic backdrop far removed from the war raging across the Pacific, Mitchell and five other children would become the first—and only—civilians to die by enemy weapons on the United States mainland during World War II.

While Archie parked their car, Elsye and the children stumbled upon a strange-looking object in the forest and shouted back to him. The reverend would later describe that tragic moment to local newspapers: “I…hurriedly called a warning to them, but it was too late. Just then there was a big explosion. I ran up – and they were all lying there dead.” Lost in an instant were his wife and unborn child, alongside Eddie Engen, 13, Jay Gifford, 13, Sherman Shoemaker, 11, Dick Patzke, 14, and Joan “Sis” Patzke, 13.

285 Balloons make the 4 we recently found look like chump change.

On Macrodosing today we discussed at length these balloons but its insane that this wasn't the first time balloons have been buzzing over the USA.

I mean remember Balloon Boy?

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A 6-year-old boy climbed into a hot-air balloon aircraft and floated away Thursday, forcing officials to scramble to figure out how to rescue the boy. Larimer County sheriff’s spokeswoman Eloise Campanella says the device, which is shaped like a flying saucer, has the potential to rise to 10,000 feet. Sheriff’s officials last saw the device floating south of Milliken, which is about 40 miles north of Denver. Campanella says the 6-year-old climbed into the access door and was in the airborne device. FAA spokesman Mike Fergus says the agency has been notified and it was unclear whether traffic controllers had picked it up on radar.

I mean imagine if Balloon boy occurred today? Here's the kid today:

The family filming everything they did on home video and the kid on CNN going "It was for a show" is just such a ridiculous saga.

There was also the Hindenberg:

This was actually the event that made me fall in love with PMT and probably apply for the job. The Hindenberg call by Stingray Steve almost made me piss my pants on the bus on the way to school.

Tons of balloons have effected American history. These Chinese balloons arent the first, and probably not the last.

The thing is that UFOs encompass any object in the sky flying. So like a balloon they don’t know is in the air would be in the same class as a goddamn alien spaceship if it happened upon earth.

Also funny that the U.S just shot down something over Canada and Trudeau had to act like he had any say in the matter. The reports of no propulsion system or observable equipment could also describe some of the crazy UFOs we have seen but also… a balloon.

Balloons don’t have a propulsion system because they use helium to stay buoyant.
