The Mahomes' Fixation With Valentines Day Is Making Me Worry About My Chiefs Bet
NY Post- Patrick Mahomes might be in the dog house with his wife, Brittany Matthews.
The Chiefs quarterback admitted that he forgot about Valentine’s Day as he prepares to play in Super Bowl 2023 against the Eagles on Sunday.
Mahomes, who tied the knot with Brittany in Hawaii last March, appeared caught off guard when he was asked about the holiday while speaking to reporters on radio row in Arizona.
“I didn’t even notice it was coming up, so don’t tell her I said that but I’ll make sure I have some plans now,” Mahomes said. “I don’t know when it is, I know it’s February 14, but I don’t know what day of the week [it is]. I’ll make sure to make plans. I appreciate you reminding me.”
The injuries to wide receivers, the Eagles being a great team, and Patrick Mahomes ankle didn't worry me. They were on my list of things to consider before placing my Chiefs +2.5 wager the minute the line came out on the Barstool Sportsbook, but none of them truly scared me. I consider Patrick Mahomes the best QB on the planet, a guy who's been to 5 straight AFC title games, won a Super Bowl, and made 2 others in that time as a starter. The guy can get ripped and joked for "Patty Checkdowns". But give me a list of QB's to lose their best WR and still put up insane numbers ... I bet it's a pretty short list. Him as a dog is something I will bet on until I get proven wrong, and we will find out Sunday which way that ends up. I can live with losing backing a guy who's the best in the league. Nothing about that scares me.
What now officially terrifies me is Patrick's wife Brittany clear concern for Valentine's Day. Now Brittany wasn't quoted on Radio Row, but you can tell Patrick knows he has to make plans or she will be very upset. It's like one of those things where your wife says "it's not a big deal" but it clearly is. You can tell he had a little sense of panic there. That panic is stemmed from Brittany wanting a great night together. And in any other year ... that's perfectly fine. But this is Super Bowl week Brittany!!! We don't need Patrick ordering roses or calling for reservations during game week. We need treatment on the ankle, reps with the wide receivers, watching game film and anything besides picking out an outfit for Valentine's Day.
Also wild move from Brittany to even care about Valentine's Day when the outcome of the game directly affects his mood. If you start worrying about Valentine's Day and they lose the game, you may get a great night out that he planned while he should have been practicing, but you'll be staring at a zombie across the table who's upset because .... oh you know he LOST THE DAMN SUPER BOWL! Take a back seat with the plans and let him win the game, then guess what? In 2 weeks after the parades and the celebrations and the parties and the tour and the smiles. He can take you away for 6 weeks of vacation/Valentine's Day and no one will care. Shit he could show up to training camp late next year and say he was late because he was taking you on dates and not one person would care because... oh you know.... HE WON THE DAMN SUPER BOWL ! Play the game Brittany. Valentine's Day doesn't matter this year. The game does. Wait a month to get your damn roses and dinner! I'm officially terrified of my Chiefs wager until Brittany officially says Patrick doesn't have to plan Valentine's Day.
