Nick Saban Altered The Course Of Football History Forever When He Convinced Jalen Hurts To Transfer To Oklahoma

There are 1440 minutes in a day. I'd imagine that Nick Saban spends each and every one of them trying to assemble the greatest roster he can piece together to lead Alabama to a national championship. But apparently he also finds a few moments throughout his day where he will assemble the best possible roster for other teams around the nation, like when he decided to do Lincoln Riley's job for him and send get Jalen Hurts to go to Oklahoma over other options like Maryland and Miami.

And with that move right there, Nick Saban created a ripple effect which will be felt throughout the rest of football eternity. Because without Jalen Hurts going to Oklahoma for that year to develop under Lincoln Riley, chances are he doesn't turn into a guy who the Philadelphia Eagles decide to take a chance on with a 2nd round draft pick. If the Eagles don't draft Jalen Hurts in the 2nd round, maybe he ends up with a team that doesn't give him a shot at playing right away. Maybe he doesn't end up on a team that completely hands the keys over to him in his 3rd year in the league and allow him to take that next step from being a good quarterback in the NFL into a great quarterback in the NFL. Maybe he doesn't become an MVP finalist. Maybe he doesn't lead the Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl.

But Nick Saban didn't let Jalen Hurts make the mistake of going to Maryland or Miami. We'll never have to worry about the What If's. Now Jalen Hurts has developed into an unstoppable force and there ain't shit that anybody can do to stop it. 24-years-old. The team is loaded with young weapons on offense who he'll be able to play with for years and years. This is just the beginning. All because Nick Saban loved Jalen Hurts too much to let his talent waste away at Maryland or Miami. That's why he's the GOAT.
