New York And Philly Mayors Have Wagered A "Vegan Cheesecake" On Saturday's Eagles vs Giants Game, In What Should Be The Last Mayors Bet Ever

CBS -- When sports teams go head-to-head in a big game, that often means a bet between city mayors with classic hometown favorite foods as prizes.

But for this weekend's playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants, Mayor Eric Adams is thinking about something plant-based.

"I'm going to reach out to the mayor of Philadelphia, and I'm going to give him a vegan cheesecake," Adams said Tuesday.

Listen. I try my damndest on this website to avoid politics. It's pretty tough considering the cultural climate we live in today where literally everything gets dragged into politics. But I try to stay out of it. I stick to hockey players bashing each other's faces in, Philadelphia being the greatest sports city on planet Earth, and smoking meat.

But I can't sit back and just let this one slide. I mean what in the actual shit are we doing here, people? One of the biggest games in the history of one of the greatest rivalries in football, and these pieces of shit are going to bet a "vegan cheesecake" over the game? Go, and I cannot express this enough, fuck yourselves.

There's nothing that makes me want to puke quite like when the mayors of two cities playing against each other in a sporting event decide to be "one of the guys" and have a little bet with each other. But I've come to grips with the fact that it's just a part of life now. Two teams square off against each other in the playoffs and the mayors are going to have some whacky and zany bet over it.

But this one crosses the line. This is where it gets disrespectful. A plant-based cheesecake? Two of the best food cities in America and that's what you come up with. It's appalling. It's disrespectful to the cities. It's disrespectful to the players who are putting their bodies on the line to play this game. It's disrespectful to humanity as a whole.

Anyway, the sports gods have never needed less reason to curse the city of New York. Giants are getting their dicks kicked in this weekend and they have nobody but Mayor Eric Adams to blame for even suggesting such an atrocity.

Go Birds.
