The Chargers Hype Video of Them 'Saving the Receipts' is a Piece of Art
The Chargers may be a team without a fan base. Without a city or a stadium to call their own. One can even argue that there's no actual reason for the franchise to exist since the have no identity beyond Air Coryell, Junior Seau, LaDainian Tomlinson and perhaps the least memorable Super Bowl loser of all time.
I would say the Chargers one contribution to American society is the greatest team fight song in Earth's history:
But give them credit where credit is most certainly do. Their social media team has produced an absolute masterpiece with this playoff hype video.
It's everything a good entry into this respected genre should be. It's petty. Vindictive. Salty. Demonstrates an overly-sensitive bitchiness. And above all else, makes you want to leave a cartoonish hole shaped like a perfect outline of you in a brick wall.
I'm blessed to have quite a history with playoff hype videos that make use of all the negativity directed at a team. I'll even argue the Patriots have produced more of them than all other franchises combined. But even at their best, they never made use of that paranoid anger so effectively. Or so artfully.
This is cinema vertie. The way a hype video would be done in the hands of a true master of the craft. A Hitchcock, a Kubrick or a Wiseau. LA is giving 2.5 points at Jacksonville Saturday night. And were I a betting man, I'd take them at -12.5 after this. The gauntlet has been thrown, and there's no way the Jags are going to be up for the challenge. They won't know what hit them after hype perfection has been achieved. Keep this up, Chargers, and you may actually make a fan out of me yet.
P.S. If you are putting money on this on, with or without the video, gamble responsibly:
