2023 Is Officially Going To Be The Year Of Tom Kim

Tom Kim came onto the scene last year as the exact breath of fresh air the sport of golf needed. You figure the entire 2022 calendar year was spent primarily in the shit of the PGA vs LIV War. Every tournament was spent trying to figure out who was just enough of a dick to the media to tip their hand that they were joining LIV. Every tournament was sports washing this, sports washing that, Phil Mickelson is a piece of shit this, Phil Mickelson is a piece of shit that. Week after week after week. It was exhausting.

But then Tom Kim came along and he fucking ruled. Just a 20-year-old kid who is sick at golf and intentionally unintentionally hilarious about it. The dude was a star right out of the gates. But I'm gonna go out on a limb here and declare that Tom Kim will be the star of 2023.

"Did you get that on camera?"

Oh I don't know, Tom. The course is 7800 yards long and Golf Channel probably has about 780 different cameras out there so I'm willing to bet that at least somebody grabbed footage of you holing out for eagle from 116 out. It's like he thinks he's out there playing with his buddies when you start feeling your swing a little on the back 9. You finally have the courage to ask your friend to film your swing for you to post on your story. You hand him your phone, absolutely flush an iron, and turns out the dumbass took a photo instead of holding down the "record" button for a video. Perfect swing, and there will never be evidence to back it up. Naturally the next swing you take where he actually holds down the record button is a chunked 6 iron that goes 50 yards.

Long story short, I don't think Tom Kim has to worry about any of his preposterous shots not getting caught on camera anymore. The kid's heart is as pure as his swing. Probably as big as his bank account now, too.

So I'd just like to formally welcome everybody to the year of Tom Kim. It's gonna be a great one.
