Jeremy Renner Is Somehow "Conscious, Stable, And Speaking" After He Was Accidentally Run Over By His 14,000 Pound Snow Plow This Weekend While Helping a Stranded Family Member
Little update here on the Jeremy Renner situation —that man is one tough son of a bitch. The movie star is awake and talking just a few days after being crushed by his giant snow plow in a freak accident while he was helping a stranded family member. I blogged the story yesterday after he had undergone two emergency surgeries. Just a little bit after that he posted the above Instagram picture to calm everyone's nerves.
Daily Mail The actor, who was in a critical condition following the accident, has had two surgeries that involved metal pins being placed around his leg. He is now awake and talking, a source told DailyMail.com
Renner had been helping a family member with a personal vehicle that was stuck in the snow, Washoe County sheriff Darin Balaam said during a news conference Tuesday afternoon.
He used the 14,330-pound snow plow to help the family member before getting out to speak with them.
Hold on, did that say FOURTEEN THOUSAND POUNDS? Well, sure looks like it.
He's got some metal pins in his leg now and looks pretty beat up, but all things considered this seems like best case scenario considering a 7 ton machine ran him over. Based on the story originally I thought he was for sure going to lose his leg if survive at all. Thankfully he appears to have caught a major break.
The sheriff of the town gave an update on the investigation where he used the word 'PistenBully' way too many times.
"Based on our investigation, Mr. Renner's personal vehicle, which was being driven by a family member, had become stuck in the snow near his home," Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said. "Mr. Renner went to retrieve his PistenBully [snowplow] or snowcat, an extremely large piece of snow removal equipment, weighing at least 14,330 pounds, in an effort to get his vehicle moving. After successfully towing his personal vehicle from its stuck location, Mr. Renner got out of his PistenBully to speak to a family member. At this point, it is observed that the PistenBully started to roll. In an effort to stop the rolling PistenBully, Mr. Renner attempts to get back into the driver's seat of the PistenBully. Based on our investigation, it's at this point that Mr. Renner is run over by the PistenBully. An eyewitness detailed seeing Mr. Renner get into the PistenBully and not seeing him again until the PistenBully came to a rest in a pile of snow in front of his driveway. At this point in the investigation, we do not believe Mr. Renner was impaired at all, and we believe this is a tragic accident."
Gonna take a little bit more than that to take out Hawkeye. Glad he's on the road to recovery, but let's be a little bit more careful next time we hop in that bad boy.
P.S. Just to give you an idea of who Renner is around the community over there, here's what the sheriff had to say about him.
"So when I took office in 2019, he came…" Balaam said. "His popularity amongst kids and Marvel, he has a huge impact. Those kids that he touched during [charity event] Shop with the Sheriff, he showed up to shop with our kids, I can guarantee they will never forget that moment that they got. He shared our time with us there and not only showed with a few kids, but interacted with the kids, so he's had a huge impact… but throughout the community he's been very generous. And he's one of those individuals that I can tell you, most of the time you don't know that he's doing it, but he has made a tremendous impact on this community."
