Avatar 2 Needs To Be One Of The Top-4 Highest Grossing Movies Ever To Make A Profit

(GQ) The Way of Water was expensive to make—How expensive? “Very fucking,” according to Cameron, who told me he’d informed the studio that the film represented “the worst business case in movie history.” In order to be profitable, he’d said, “you have to be the third or fourth highest-grossing film in history. That’s your threshold. That’s your break even.”

So how expensive is that?

So in order for this movie to earn the slightest profit, the goalpost is a whopping $2 BILLION dollars. How does that stack up against some of the most expensive movies ever made?

How about vs the most expensive back-to-back productions ever made?

So nearly 4x the most expensive trilogy ever to make a profit. SHEESH.

But you know what, that's just Jimmy Cameron baby! Him being an asshole doing shit like this is just part of his allure. He recently revealed that he had this to say to an executive that asked him to trim the first Avatar down.

“I said something I’ve never said to anybody else in the business,” Cameron said, revealing that he told the exec the following statement: ”I think this movie is going to make all the fucking money. And when it does, it’s going to be too late for you to love the film. The time for you to love the movie is today. So I’m not asking you to say something that you don’t feel, but just know that I will always know that no matter how complimentary you are about the movie in the future when it makes all the money.

“And that’s exactly what I said, in caps, ALL THE MONEY, not some of the money, all the fucking money,” Cameron continued. “I said, ‘You can’t come back to me and compliment the film or chum along and say, ‘Look what we did together.’ You won’t be able to do that.’ At that point, that particular studio executive flipped out and went bug shit on me. And I told him to get the fuck out of my office. And that’s where it was left.”

And that is the thing with Cameron. As much as he is an asshole as he is to cast, crew and executives alike, he backs it all up. He told that guy 'Avatar' would make all the money and it did!

Cameron has a rich dream life to this day, he told me: “I have my own private streaming service that’s better than any of that shit out there. And it runs every night for free.”

God, how could you not love how much of an asshole he is. Just PERFECTION. I am still steadfast in my belief that this movie is not only going to be a box office destroyer like the first one, but also a legitimately good movie. Better than the first one, too.
