VIDEO: An Arkansas Fan Gleefully Gallivanted Away With An Ole Miss Player's Helmet After The Razorbacks' Win
This video wins the superlative for "Most Impossible To Screenshot For A Default Image", but even in spite of that and the fact that it's pretty short, this is hilarious for absolutely everyone involved except for Ole Miss linebacker Troy Brown.
Sure, the Arkansas fan is a total dumbass for doing this, and once Brown spotted him, a security guard was in hot pursuit. Even that guy had to have a good chuckle about this as he engaged in the offscreen foot chase. I'm here for the hijinks and immature stunt-pulling that happens amidst the heated passion of college football rivalries. This is the SEC, after all. These Razorbacks and Rebels are clawing for every scrap of glory they can scrounge in a conference dominated in perpetuity by Alabama, Tennessee this year oops never mind and Georgia.
Talk about adding insult to injury, though. Brown and the Rebels defense had just gotten undressed in a 42-27 loss on the road, and getting your helmet stolen only makes an awful situation that much worse.
PLOT TWIST: Brown took to Twitter to clear things up and emphasize that the rogue thief did not abscond with his lid in the end after all:
Does he mean that it wasn't Brown's helmet that was initially stolen, or that he was sticking up for a teammate whose hat was on the loose? Judging by the reaction in the above video, I have a hard time believing it wasn't his in the first place. But this just added some unexpected confusion to the whole hullabaloo.
Unclear what the fate of this rash-acting presumptive Arkansas student was. Maybe he got arrested based on the information Brown shared. Either way, salute the young man who played the fool and gave us a petty little subplot to supplement Saturday's high-scoring action.
