Dave Portnoy Looks To End Mike Trout's Season Today
Dave Portnoy is on an improbable two game winning streak after dropping four straight propelled by the arm and legs of Justin Fields. Mike Trout has dropped two straight with two tough Ls after winning three straight himself. Can Dave eliminate Trout from playoff contention?
I LOVE Justino today vs. the Falcons. The Falcons are an awful defense whose numbers look way better the past three games only because they've played Carolina twice in those games. I think the Bears drop 30+ again today (averaging 31 points per game their last four). Gus Edwards sitting is actually great news for Dave who should get a full share of Kenyan Drake. Cordarrelle Patterson gets one of the worst run defenses. Dave will need big games from is SNF slot from MVS or Gerald Everett (who is questionable at time of post). Given the point total on this game and Everett injury, it would be an interesting move to go with Taysom Hill off waivers and swing for the fences. Trout has some interesting revenge game angles here. Dave just dropped Kirk Cousins who Trout picked up. He's been pretty solid and based on schedules, Brady could have been the savvier drop with him on a bye this week along with Trout's QB1 of Tua Tagovailoa and former QB2 Trevor Lawrence. Will that error cost Dave the game?? Trout already got a monster performance from King Henry on Thursday Night Football and he'll need strong games from Nick Chubb, Stefon Diggs, and the recently nicked up AJ Brown to survive. But I think he will.
Commissioner Cheah's pick: The Kid
We've also got a showdown of two of the top three teams with Wil Myers looking to remain as the #1 team while facing Jake Marisnick, who is a heavy favorite.
This is a true battle of titans here and unfortunately I think Wil Myers has some tough matchups. The Chargers typically play the Chiefs close, so it could be a lower scoring game. Davante Adams also gets a very stout Broncos pass D. Josh Jacobs had success last time against Denver, but can he repeat that performance? Darius Slayton has also been hot but could draw Jeff Okudah in coverage today. Meanwhile, Marisnick is looking to bounce back from a loss to Dave and already has a huge game from Christian Watson in the bag. He's got Travis Kelce tonight which should offset a lot of Mahomes points and Saquon Barkley and Josh Allen both have good matchups. Despite missing Travis Etienne and DK Metcalf, I think Marisnick takes this one.
Commissioner Cheah's pick: We Are Phamily
Big matchup in playoff positioning with Mike Moustakas getting a chance to solidify positioning for a first round bye and Eric Hosmer fighting for his post-season life.
Lamar Jackson is playing despite battling an illness, but Justin Jefferson has a turf toe and Zeke has missed some time. Alvin Kamara's usage has been down lately, so Moose may be vulnerable here. Meanwhile, Hosmer has Danny Dimes who figures to run a bit more in a windy MetLife stadium today. Antonio Gibson has been quietly a good RB2 lately in PPR and Jonathan Taylor has new life with Jeff Saturday at the helm. Brian Robinson Jr. also gets a leaky Texans D and George Kittle could show out on Monday Night, although playing him over the RED HOT Cole Kmet in a potentially very high scoring game is a questionable move. I think it'll be a close one.
Commissioner Cheah's pick: Blood Sweat and Beers
Another huge battle with playoff implications here as Mike Napoli squares off against the Guardians duo of Shane Bieber and Austin Hedges. Both teams are in the playoffs for the moment, but after this week, one will likely be on the outside looking in.
It should be noted that Bieber & Hedges are taking a BIG gamble with Kyler Murray as their starter. Murray is their starter, but no active backup with Deshaun Watson the only other QB on the roster. On Monday Night Football that is a huge gamble as if he doesn't play that could cost them this pivotal matchup. But they do have some horses with Christian McCaffrey and DeAndre Hopkins. D'Onta Foreman has also been playing very well, but can Carolina keep their game vs. Baltimore close enough for him to be a factor? Meanwhile, Napoli has the Eagles dynamic duo of Jalen Hurts and Miles Sanders, so he should dominate the Philly rushing attack's points. Kadarius Toney is also in a big spot and has looked way more healthy in KC than NYC. This is a tough one to call based on health, but…
Commissioner Cheah's pick: Ja'Marr U Lose, Ja'Less U Care
The Brewers duo of Christian Yelich and Jace Peterson need a win here to stay in the hunt as they have the lowest point total in the league despite their 5-5 record. They get the trio of Joc Pederson, Alex Wood, and Austin Barnes as they try and fend off elimination today.
ESPN is predicting this matchup will come down to a single point, which in a PPR league is a single catch. If that's the case, it'll be decided on Monday Night when there are four starters in this matchup playing. Of that matchup, it's James Conner and Brandon Aiyuk vs. Deebo Samuel and Robbie Gould. Aiyuk has been hot and with no Eno Benjamin in the fold, Conner could go off. Deebo Samuel has also seen a reduction in fantasy value since Christian McCaffrey has been brought into the fold. Of the other starters, I love Amon-Ra St. Brown and Dak today. Bust I also love TJ Hockenson and David Montgomery. Tough one…
Commissioner Cheah's pick: Team Questionable
Alex Bregman has done a great job winning a world series and posting very photogenic pics of his wife and home to distract people from the real issue - his fantasy team. At 1-9 he's been eliminated from the playoffs before Thanksgiving and he gets Manny Machado who needs a win this week to have a shot.
Machado's season has been derailed by Mark Andrews injury, but Andrews is back today and despite missing Kenneth Walker who is on a bye, I like Manny to roll anchored by Joe Burrow and Austin Ekeler. Bregman has Rhamondre Stevenson, but no other legitimate heavy hitters. Maybe Terry McLaurin, but that is a stretch right now. I think our beloved World Series Champion starts next week 1-10.
