Officially Worried About USA In The World Cup After Seeing These Lame Ted Lasso Billboards For The Team

This is worse than leaving off Jordan Pefok, Ricardo Pepi and Malik Tillman. This is the kiss of death. Listen, I like Ted Lasso. I think it's stupid people hate on it just because it's good and popular. But these billboards? These billboards are as lame as it gets. One of those right idea, horrendous execution type things. I'm all for putting things up at the hometowns of our guys. Anything to support the team.

But as Jeff D. Lowe said to me - this gives off big time doofus energy.

Look at these. Try reading them because they are each a paragraph long and you'll realize how corny it is. This isn't anti-Ted Lasso or anything like that. This is being anti-lame. We should be embracing being the bad boys of soccer. We should embrace people getting pissed at us for calling it soccer. Do something to strike some fear with the billboards. I know Ted Lasso is an American thing but there's no shot billboards like this pop up in England, Germany, Argentina, Croatia, Italy. Well, not Italy because they can't even make the World Cup.

This US team is not bad. This is a team full of talent, full of youth and for two full World Cup cycles we should be viewed as threats to compete. Instead this feels like we're pushovers. We're not fucking UMBC playing Virginia. We're not this plucky underdog that has no idea what they are doing - even if Gregg's decisions somewhat feel that way.

None of these billboards make me feel great. You don't win World Cup matches by being cute. You win World Cup matches by being feisty and being aggressive. At the minimum couldn't we get some dark Ted Lasso billboards? Can we get the pissed off Ted Lasso? That's how we should be coming into this World Cup.

Let's not forget that Ted Lasso got relegated in season 1. We can't have that sort of juju coming into an important World Cup. Advance from the group stage is something we should be looking at. Get these corny statements out of my face.
