All across America there are dudes who have a group chat going with buddies that they may not have even seen in years, but still keep in contact with to talk about their favorite sports teams. The years go by, life gets in the way, you start to lose touch with people, but the group chat always remains rock solid.

And in those group chats you guys always throw out hypotheticals as if you were the owners or general managers of said teams. It's like sports talk radio callers but for people with friends.

But anyway, it's always easy to have a few too many Diet Millers on a Friday night and start tossing around reckless ideas about how to save your franchise. It's another thing to actually be in a position of power and just make every decision that pops into your head. Trade for Carson Wentz? Done. Trade away Carson Wentz 13 months later? Done. Sign Matt Ryan? Done. Bench Matt Ryan a few weeks into the season? Done. Fire the offensive coordinator a week into naming a rookie quarterback your starter? Done. Fire Frank Reich just a week later? Done. Completely disregard everybody in the building and go rip Jeff Saturday out of Bristol to be the interim head coach? Done.

I can guarantee you there's a group chat somewhere in Indianapolis where all of these ideas have been thrown out there. A bunch of guys who think that just because they played sports in high school, that they could run a professional sports organization. As it turns out, Jim Irsay is just one of us. The only difference is that he has the billions of dollars necessary to actually do something with these ideas. But just going around and making literally whatever move pops into his mind and not giving a shit about the consequences of those decisions? That's what we all want to do with our favorite sports teams. So credit to Jim Irsay for giving us hope. For letting us know that it's possible. I mean he's not doing a great job at it, but the fact that he's doing it at all says something.
