LSU Takes Down Alabama On A Walk-Off Two-Point Conversion In Overtime To Kill The Crimson Tide's SEC West And CFP Hopes
Wow! The balls on Brian Kelly!
Alabama's season pretty much ended on that play. Barring something extremely unforeseen, the SEC Championship Game will be LSU vs. Georgia and the Crimson Tide's second loss will certainly remove them from College Football Playoff contention.
I absolutely love the call from Kelly to go for the win in overtime. If you offered LSU the option before the game started to either play out the 60 minutes and see what happens or take one snap from the 2-yard line and either win or lose it on that, you'd take the latter 11 times out of 10. So that's the correct call when you have that opportunity.
If the Tigers' potential game-tying extra point against Florida State isn't blocked, we'd likely be talking about LSU being a legitimate national title contender — and they may still find a way to get into the CFP if things break the right way against Georgia. Kelly has done a pretty tremendous job in his first season in Baton Rouge, especially getting his team to bounce back from that home drubbing at the hands of Tennessee. Now it looks like he'll have LSU in Atlanta.
The scenes inside Tiger Stadium are already what you'd expect:
What a game.
