ROLLING In College Football This Year... Here's A Winner For Saturday

Giphy Images.

It's already week 10 in college football. Seems like just yesterday this season was getting started. For me it's all about quality over quantity and been a very good run sitting at 12-5 on the year with these blog breakdowns. Let's get into another one here.

Minnesota has had an interesting season. They won their first four games by 38, 52, 42 and 27 which were all against non bowl teams. Since then they followed that up with three loses against better competition and then last week blew out another bad team in Rutgers 31-0. The truth is against bad teams, they romp them and leaves little doubt. The offense has actually been very solid particularly running the football and putting the ball in the end zone. They sit at 10th in America in rush success on offense and average nearly 5 yards per carry. As far as touchdown percentage in the red zone, they are sitting nearly 75 percent, a top 20 mark in the country. They block up front well and have one of the best running backs in the country which accounts for why this offense has withered opponents down. Against a poor Nebraska defense they should have very little trouble moving the ball. The Cornhuskers defense is allowing five yards a carry and 106th in America against the pass. Any team with a pulse has put up 30+ against Nebraska.

On offense this is going to be quite the challenge for the Cornhuskers. Reports out of Lincoln all week is that QB Casey Thompson likely won't play here due to a nerve injury. His backups both did not fair well against a great defense in Illinois and it's likely to happen here against another strong defense in Minnesota. While the Golden Gophers aren't as good as Illinois they are damn good giving up just 14 points per game. They are particularly strong against the pass, but without Thompson, Nebraska will be forced to run the ball which is something they really struggle with. Either way, Minnesota is great on the defensive end and should be able to keep a team led by an interim coach at bay. It is important to mention, Nebraska has only had 23 red zone attempts one of the lowest in America.

I trust Minnesota against these types of teams and they've been well prepared and usually have very little issue winning by margin. The Gophers have covered 7 of 10 as a favorite and are bowl eligible with a win here. I think they get it done like 34-10/31-14. I am laying -14.5 with Minnesota.
