The Jets Just Lost Their Two Best Offensive Players For The Season And The Franchise Feels Cursed

The Breece Hall news was inevitable after hearing Saleh's post game presser, but this news is what has me down the worst.

For those not keeping track, Alijah Vera-Tucker and Breece Hall have been the two best players on the offense this year. According to PFF, AVT ranks 1st among all Jets OL in their grading. For a team that's already down what seems like an entire offensive line, losing AVT is about as brutal as it gets. In training camp, the Jets lost Mekhi Becton. They pick up Duane Brown to help with the injury, and you wouldn't believe it but he gets hurt. On the opposite side, George Fant gets hurt in late September. Max Mitchell steps up at RT and for a 4th round rookie, he is playing pretty well...but guess what? He gets hurt. After playing RG, LT, and RT due to all the injuries, Alijah Vera-Tucker was slowly turning into a rock for the Jets....and now he's out for the season.

Breece Hall was turning into an RB star. He was the 1st RB to score a TD for the Jets in 4 straight games since Thomas Jones! YES! THAT THOMAS JONES! I come from the camp of RBs not mattering much in the NFL, but his impact will obviously be missed. Along with running the ball, he showed himself to be a pretty decent pass blocker and pass catcher. The ACL tear is similar to what Saquon suffered, so don't expect to see a fully healthy Breece until 2024. Anything before that is a gift.

I write this blog from a place of anger as a Jets fan. Finally, the Jets are putting together a phenomenal season. The first of which since 2010! And what happens? Injuries GALORE! Please tell me why the Jets are cursed! We have suffered through the Patriots making us their JV team for 2 decades with a coach that coached our team for all of 48 hours and now the Bills are in the midst of a dominant run with a QB the Jets passed on to draft SAM DARNOLD. While we are talking about the draft, let's look at the past few draft classes and their luck so far in 2022

Mekhi Becton (2020 1st Round) - Out for season.

Zach Wilson (2021 1st Round) - Missed training camp and first 3 games due to knee injury in preseason.

Alijah Vera-Tucker (2021 1st Round) - Out for season.

Jermaine Johnson (2022 1st Round) - Injury plagued 1st season, missed multiple games.

Breece Hall (2022 2nd Round) - Out for season.

Next man up, I guess.
