J.C. Jackson (5 years, $82.5 Million) Has Been Benched And The Patriots Win Again
Every, and I mean EVERY Patriots fan said the same thing when the Chargers made J.C. Jackson. The smug tweets along the lines of "Just you wait", "Bill doesn't let good players walk", "He actually sucks and is bailed out by other defensive players". I didn't want to believe it at all. The tape, the stats, all of the gushing testimony from the coaching staffs. I WANTED TO BELIEVE! J.C. would be the one to buck the trend of players like Blount, Givens, Hobbs, Maroney, etc.! Well, It looks like I was wrong.
I want to give the quick disclaimer that his ankle was fucked up and he had surgery on it in late August. He was clearned to play after the first couple of games and has been nothing but a liability since. Every time there is a big play, there is J.C. Jackson chasing after the receiver. Long TD? J.C. Jackson. He has been so bad that dudes like Jacoby Brissett have felt comfortable picking on him. PICKING ON AN $82 MILLION DOLLAR CORNER!
Maybe he gets back to full speed after the bye and gets more comfortable after getting practice reps with Staley's defense. He hasn't had a ton so maybe that's a factor too. But for a guy getting this kind of money to be playing so bad he gets benched for a CB that was so bad that HE got benched? That's really bad news.
UPDATE: Since Jackson was benched, the Broncos have had 4 possessions with a whopping 52 total yards.
