T.J. Miller Realized It Was a Terrible Idea To Brand Ryan Reynolds As 'Horrifically Mean' And Proceeded To Backtrack On All The Negative Stuff He Just Said About The 'Deadpool' Star

T.J. Miller thought it'd be a good idea to get his name in the headlines when he recently took some shots at the universally beloved Ryan Reynolds.

Speaking to The Adam Carolla Show on Oct. 3, Miller recounted a moment on the set of Deadpool in which Reynolds, who was in character, asked for an extra take and, according to the comedian, was "horrifically mean" to him in front of the rest of the cast and crew. Miller went on to say he wasn't interested in working with Reynolds ever again, and found it "weird that [Reynolds] hates me." (Ew

In the Oct. 5 episode, the screenwriter said that he would “not work with [Reynolds] again” after a “really weird” interaction with the “Green Lantern” star — even if he was paid “twice as much” for a “Deadpool 3” role.

“I got along with him a lot better on the first ‘Deadpool’ because he wasn’t a huge, huge movie star,” Miller said, calling the second installment a “not … great experience. After the “How to Train Your Dragon” voice actor referred to Reynolds as “insecure,” he added, “I just think he doesn’t like me, and I thought it was weird how he expressed that.” (NYP)

I'm not sure I've ever seen or heard any negative Ryan Reynolds stories in my life. Now I'm not just saying that because he follows me on Twitter and we're basically pals (nbd), but the guy is virtually untouchable in the sense that everything he does is hilarious, charismatic, and charming. He's essentially got the perfect life and persona, but here was TJ Miller attempting to bring down the whole party.

Well, that lasted a few days before his agent told him that was a very bad idea and that he better backtrack the whole thing. According to Miller, Reynolds emailed him the next day and they hashed it all out.

“It was a misunderstanding,” Miller, 41, said on Wednesday’s episode of SiriusXM’s “Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Show,” calling the Golden Globe nominee, 45, “cool” and a “good dude.”  The “Cloverfield” alum added, “It was very cool for him to say, ‘Hey, you know, I just heard … that you were upset about this.’ And I kind of said, ‘You know, I’m not,’ and then we sort of hashed it out quickly.”

Miller noted that he “feels bad” over how “misconstrued” his on-set story became after his “Adam Corolla Show” podcast interview went viral. The “Silicon Valley” alum clarified that he “wasn’t really saying anything negative” about Reynolds.

First of all, who's squashing feuds via email these days? Something tells me that's not what happened. Second of all holy backtrack, Batman! You think TJ Miller's people got in his ear or what? Love how Miller said he didn't say anything negative. I mean you called him horrifically mean and said you'd never work with him again. Oh yeah certainly nothing negative at all to see! Why would anyone pay attention to those quotes?

Tough call here who to believe. On one side you have a disgraced actor who has been known to be a bully on the set of his projects, been accused of sexual assault, and once called in a fake bomb threat on a woman who was annoying him on an Amtrak train. On the other you have one of the more like-able celebrities in Ryan Reynolds. Hmmmm

Also the timing here is awfully suspicious, don't you think? Deadpool 3 was just announced last week, creating a ton of buzz with the return of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. Obviously TJ Miller wasn't being considered to reprise his role after all his drama following the second film, but in his mind maybe this would get him back in the fold? Maybe with him and Reynolds smoothing it over he finds his way in? Probably a pipe dream, but it's worth the ol' college try I suppose. Probably just ends with Reynolds breaking the fourth wall in the film and taking a nice shot at the actor. Hey at least he'd sorta be in the film!

Maybe instead of T.J. Miller in Deadpool 3 we get Blake Lively? Certainly wouldn't be opposed.

Do the right thing, Ryan.
