McDonald's Is Changing The Game Yet Again After Announcing They Will Be Selling Adult Happy Meals That Come With Nostalgic Toys

CNN- The Hamburglar is back at McDonald’s. But this time, it’s just for adults. McDonald’s is bringing back its family of recognizable figurines in a new adult Happy Meal, which, yes, includes the toys. Beginning October 3, customers can order a Cactus Plant Flea Market Box — a Big Mac or 10-piece chicken McNuggets, with fries and a drink.

The food will be served in a specially designed box that should trigger memories of Happy Meals from the old days. Toys include redesigned takes on McDonald’s famous mascots, including Grimace, Hamburglar and Birdie, plus a new one named Cactus Buddy.

Atta boy Ronald! There's a reason the Golden Arches continue to ring out from sea to shining sea all across this crazy world of ours. I can't tell you how many times I watched my kids scarf down Happy Meals while finally giving me a moment of peace and wonder why Mickey D's never released Happy Meals. Turns out they just were waiting to spike the 2022 Q4 earnings.

I appreciate McDonald's didn't go with salads or grilled chicken for the adult happy meal menu either. This is exclusively for people like myself that want to gorge in the classics, whether its golden fried chicken nuggets or a big greasy burger comprised of two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun. Could they have maybe added a second item like a 4 piece nuggets or god forbid the return of the Snack Wrap just like kids get a side of apples along with their fries? I wouldn't have hated it. However, this is clearly a step in the right direction, as is everything coming in a special Happy Meal box that was only yours where nobody could steal the fries that came out of the box.

My only other criticism is that I'm an Old that has no goddamn clue what Cactus Plant Flea Market is and feel like I'd get laughed at by the Youngs for owning any of their stuff. But I do love the shit out of nostalgia, will never turn down free stuff, and am a sucker for a good fast food marketing push considering I've gone on the record saying I'd play McDonald's Monopoly until my dying day even if they told me it was completely rigged just because of the rush when you peel those stickers back.

So I'll gladly accept a freakshow Grimace, Hamburglar, or Birdie. However if I get the smiley face Cactus Buddy guy, I'm gonna revert to five year old Clem that would cry about getting the shitty toy and pray the high school kid working behind the counter isn't in a bad mood for failing his bio test and will give me a different toy. No offense to the good people at Cactus Buddy, but I would've loved to have seen these old school McNuggets toys make a comeback as well.

P.S. I was just thinking about this the other day but McDonald's could honestly raise the price of a Happy Meal to whatever they want and I'd have to buy it because they truly have parents by the balls. Kids love the nuggets, the fries, and no fast foot joint on the planet touches them when it comes to toys. I've seen the price steadily rise over the last few years like everything else but ultimately realize I am powerless to do anything about it until my kids age out of Happy Meals and start ordering by numbers like proper humans.
