5 Years Ago Today The FBI Held A Press Conference Promising College Basketball Will Change Forever (Nothing Has Changed)

Five years ago today college basketball was supposed to change forever. Look at those quotes. We woke up that morning with news that the FBI arrested college basketball coaches, later this was a press conference where the FBI said they have 'college basketball's playbook.' Five years ago I wasn't even full time here. I now have had multiple contracts and multiple kids. That shouldn't happen between that investigation, quote and still waiting punishment.

Here's the thing though. Nothing has changed. Rick Pitino got fired from Louisville? That's really about it. Sean Miller and Will Wade were fired but it wasn't *directly* tied to this. Assistant coaches went to jail, which is still baffling to me. Oklahoma State wrongfully had a year Tournament probation, which makes less sense than jail. Yet nothing has changed. There has been no punishment, no dishes, no nothing.

It's honestly insane and asinine that we're still waiting to see what the punishment for these schools are going to be. Shit, Bill Self signed a lifetime deal between this time! He also won a title, so it was worth it for Kansas. The point is college basketball is still college basketball. A beautiful sport, my favorite sport, that is filled with flaws. People will argue for years about NIL and transfers and the one-and-dones (despite being an NBA rule). But nothing has changed since the FBI did this:

I barely even wanted to blog this, but had to write something about how outlandish the whole thing is. Every game we still have random announcers talking about how this is still going on. I'd prefer just to argue about basketball - crazy, I know. It doesn't even matter what happens going forward. This was and always will be an all-time failure.
