I Offered Eddie the Exclusive and I'm Glad I Did...

After I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in May, my doctor told me I should write a blog about it, that it would be good therapy for me, and it might help other guys who were going through the same thing. So, I sat at my computer and began tapping out a blog. By the time it was nearing completion, I had become very anxious and extremely depressed, so I shelved it. That was a couple of months ago.

Recently, I decided to take another crack at writing the blog, and this time it was very different. I felt less anxious, and when it was finished, I was glad I wrote it. As a result, I've spoken with a lot of guys who were, or currently are, in a similar situation, and talking about our situations was good for all of us. Having that conversation isn't easy for most guys, but it's so important to talk about it and not keep everything bottled up.

I've worked at Barstool since February of 2020, and in addition to creating live-action memes, blogs, and videos, I've made several appearances on The Dog Walk with Eddie.

After the blog posted and the reaction to it was good, I decided to reach out to Eddie and offer him the exclusive. Eddie's a consummate pro; he asks great questions and lets his guests talk without interruption.

I was a little nervous about doing the interview. Lately, I've been very emotional, and I was afraid that when it got "real," I may have a difficult time. I had a couple of moments, but overall, I did okay. During the interview, Eddie's reactions and facial expressions were very comforting. He may not be Oprah Fucking Winfrey, but he has a unique way of making me feel comfortable and bringing out the best in me even under the most difficult circumstances… (Thanks, Eddie!)

Here's the full interview in case you missed it…

Here are the hard facts: 40% of all people will be diagnosed with some type of cancer, one in six men will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, and close to 3/4 of all men will die with Prostate Cancer, but not from it.

So, what's a guy to do? Get regular PSA tests! A PSA test checks for levels of prostate-specific antigen in the blood, with higher levels signaling potential cancer. Digital Rectal Exams, a rubber glove and Vaseline, only catch extreme cases; PSA tests are more reliable. Although not 100%, a PSA test gives you and your doctor a more accurate assessment of your prostate health and establishes a baseline that will help identify even the slightest changes to your prostate as you get older.

We all have expiration dates, but in most cases, we can move that date forward by being proactive, and that means regular testing. If Prostate Cancer runs in your family, you should be able to request and receive a PSA test.

Remember, no one is better at advocating for you than YOU! BE PROACTIVE!

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and whether you buy a tee, cap, or sticker, you'll be showing your support for Prostate Cancer Research and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Barstool Sports will be donating 100% of the net proceeds to Dana-Farber.

Thanks in advance for your support!
