Shocking There's More Drama With The 49ers QBs - Trey Lance Was Reportedly 'Annoyed' When Jimmy G First Came Back
Jesus fellas. Let's stop all the complaining from both sides. You have all these stories out there - just in our blog search alone:
Now, to be fair, Dante is a HUGE Jimmy G guy. Fitz is a big time Lance guy. It's kind of pointless to talk either of them off the other side because it's impossible. That's where I'm coming in. I don't care about either guy. For me? I don't blame Trey Lance. You get drafted 3rd overall, you expect to get a chance to start at some point. I get the redshirt season as a rookie. It happens and not uncommon. But why the hell would the Niners take you if they want Jimmy G to start?
I also get that if you're the starting quarterback the last thing you want is a guy like Jimmy G behind you. The moment Lance puts up a dud, everyone is going to scream for Jimmy G. I don't think he's the answer. I know Dante said if he completed that one pass to Emmanuel Sanders, we'd view him differently. Well, he didn't complete the pass. I also think looking at just wins/losses is a terrible way to evaluate a quarterback on an individual level. Mark Sanchez is a .500 level quarterback, no one would ever call him average. Everyone calls him a bust. Just proving a point here.
Then there's the report that Kyle Shanahan was talked out of both Tom Brady and Mac Jones. Sure, maybe? That's not what you want leaked though as you get ready to hand the ball to Trey Lance. Listen, I think Lance is fine. I think he deserves a shot to start. I'm not all in on Jimmy G like Dante. I think he has a ceiling and they hit it. They had a chance to win a Super Bowl and couldn't do it. They are a decent team with Jimmy G.
They are starting to play nice in the media. We're hearing how Trey Lance is thrilled to have Jimmy to learn from and all that. But we'll see what happens when Lance stinks one game and the Niners are battling for a playoff spot.
