It's Not Show Friends. It's Show Business: Surviving Barstool Episode 2 Recap

Surviving Barstool Season 2 rolled along last night with Episode 2. Every new episode will air this week at 7 PM through the finale on Thursday night. There's 6 people left after last night's elimination and it feels like it could be anyone's game to win at this point. I'l be recapping each episode and giving my thoughts. You can read yesterday's recap HERE. Now onto last night...

Episode 1 Fallout

After the Tiko vote out and "Power Cheah" the boys were feeling great about themselves. They managed to escape a majority all-girls alliance (for now) and swing the numbers to their side with Jackie. Caroline, meanwhile, was very confused because Tiko accused her of this big power play that was actually just Steven Cheah lying. They set their sights on Caroline as the next target, thinking she was the most likely to head up an all-girls alliance.

Idol Hunt

Steven Cheah and Eddie found the next clue underneath a Dunkin' award. This clue said that "Having the idol might make you the winner, but in order to find it you must be a sinner." They decided to keep the clue secret from everyone else, including their fellow male ally Rudy who was simultaneously giving a confessional about how much he trusts the other two guys. Tough.

Steven Cheah promptly ripped up the clue, disposed of it in 12 different trash cans like it was a dead body, and then gave a villainous quote to boot.

Immunity Challenge

This challenge put all the contestants in a bunch of inflated suits. They then had to run around the office collecting bags with puzzle pieces, then complete the puzzle. Jackie got out to an early lead and seemed prime to win her third consecutive challenge, but the puzzle tripped her up and Caroline ended up winning, potentially saving herself from elimination as she was squarely on the chopping block. She chose Rudy to stay in the Mattress Firm Suite with her because she said that Tiko texted her saying Rudy and Jackie were sneaky and so she wanted to work to get on Rudy's side. Also Rudy's hot so bonks for Caroline.

The other highlight of the challenge was an f-bomb from Kontent Kim. We didn't think that word was part of her vocabulary.

Pre-Tribal Strategy

Everyone pretty easily got on the same page that Kontent Kim was the target. I'm not exactly sure why though. In real Survivor, Kim would be a prime person to drag to the end as a goat who probably wouldn't win (no offense Kim). But maybe they felt that on Surviving Barstool, the jury might like her enough to give her votes to win? I still think targeting her was a questionable decision. If I was in this season, I would've taken Tiko and Kim and dragged their asses to the finish line. I think Grace was the bigger threat here because, as Eddie mentioned, she's way more likely to swing Jackie back to the girls side than Kim. So going for Kim was very questionable BUT I do think there's something to be said for just going along with the easy vote in these games. You only need to survive five eliminations to make Final Tribal Council. So if there's an easy vote at one of those five that isn't you, it may behoove you to just take it and not rock the boat which could put your own ass on the hot seat (like what happened to Eddie in Episode 1).

So with Kim on the hot seat, Godfather Steven Cheah wanted to know "What can you offer me?"

Apparently her offer was that she would vote with the guys alliance at the next tribal if they saved her this time. And Kim is probably someone whose word you can trust. But just as the guys were considering switching the vote to Grace, she walked in on them and I think that stopped the plan from coming to any sort of fruition.

Tribal Council

The jaw dropping takeaway from tribal council for me was when all the girls were talking about how badly they wanted to get in on the guys alliance. Now let's do some math. There are four girls. There are three guys. And the four girls (the majority) are fighting to get in with the three guys (the minority). Make that make sense. The girls could've easily teamed up and taken out someone from the alliance that they acknowledged was running the game, but instead they all just tried to join them. City boys up big.

A couple other highlights were the word vomit from Grace when she was the only one who said that there is an easy vote tonight, and everyone else then said no. Just brutal to go first there. And then of course we had Tiko being Tiko.

She has also now challenged Jackie to Rough N' Rowdy on Twitter. I can't wait for her jury speech.

Ultimately, Kim got sent home with an easy 6-1 vote. Her vote went to Steven Cheah. So the girls majority has now been evened out as we head into the Final 6.

Poor Kim.

Tune in tonight to Episode 3 at 7 PM. And you can watch our aftershow from last night here.
