Goodell Is At It Again: 49ers Safety Goes After The NFL For Some Bullshit 'Wardrobe Violation' And Fining Him $5,000

[Source] - New 49ers safety George Odum learned that the hard way after the NFL fined him just over $5,000 for … not fully covering his knees on the field.

It was during San Francisco’s second preseason game on Aug. 20 when the 49ers faced the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium.

According to league rules, players’ pants must be worn over the entire knee area. And apparently, Odum’s pants “failed to cover the knee area.”

In return, the league penalized Odum $5,305, which the 49ers are instructed to deduct from his paycheck.

Phew. Thankfully Goodell and the NFL are keeping us fans safe. Thankfully Goodell and the NFL are keeping players safe. Look at that again! How dare George Odum not have his pants over his knee. A clear cut violation that had to be addressed in the preseason. It's the downfall of the game really. Whenever I watch NFL I'm looking like a hawk making sure that knees are covered. This isn't a night club. This isn't a fashion show. You can't play football unless the entire knee is covered.

Personally? I'm thrilled that Odum took to Twitter and blasted them a bit. It's ridiculous. I know, $5,000 doesn't seem like *a lot* but you get fined for something and see how you react. Especially when it's as egregious as this. I could get if he hit someone in the head or came out wearing the wrong jersey. But it looks like we're talking about inches which only matters when you're 5'10" or trying to impress someone.

Also love that he put the entire letter out there. Niners fans should take it upon themselves to fill out the appeal. Bombard the NFL with ridiculous appeals like dumbass golf fans call in rules violations. I still can't get over that. Plenty of stories of guys getting hit with a rules violation because someone saw something on TV. Imagine if that worked in other sports? The NCAA would know my number by heart with how many times I call about a block/charge call being wrong. I hate talking on the phone but that's the one exception I'd use it for. That or letting enemies know I stand with Dave Portnoy. No way that can backfire on someone.

I hope Odum comes out for the next game like it's the early 2000s. Wear pants that make TJ Ford blush.
