Nick Kyrgios Is Being Sued By The Woman He Hilariously Accused Of Having "700 Drinks" During This Year's Wimbledon Final

Let's wind back the clocks to last month during the Wimbledon Final between Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic. In the middle of the match Nick got ticked at a rowdy fan in the stands who kept shouting mid-point. Kyrgios got caught on the hot mic complaining to the head chair umpire in a hilarious exchange. 

Well in classic 2022 fashion the woman is now seeking legal action against Kyrgios for claiming she had "700 drinks" and that the claim has since caused her harm. 

A tennis fan who was temporarily removed from Centre Court during the men's Wimbledon final following a complaint by Nick Kyrgios is taking legal action against the Australian tennis player for what she describes as a “reckless and entirely baseless allegation.”

During a changeover in his match against Novak Djokovic, Kyrgios complained to the umpire that a spectator was distracting him while he was serving, saying she was intoxicated and that she should be removed from the stands.

The spectator, Anna Palus, said in a statement released by her lawyers on Tuesday that she was bringing defamation proceedings against Kyrgios in a bid to clear her name. (Yahoo)

Talk about the Streisand Effect, huh? Not a soul on Earth remembered, cared, or even knew who this woman was before she filed this lawsuit today. Now we all know Anna Palus is the woman who screamed at Kyrgios mid-match and disrupted the Wimbledon Final. 

Now the woman is probably just taking a shot in the dark to get an easy payday. Don't worry though, she claims she's "not litigious." Sure thing…

Will she win? Well, I'm no legal expert but I guess she can say he defamed her by calling her drunk in public? If a court used common sense they'd toss this out in seconds after realizing no one knew her name and that nothing bad had followed the moment. I'm not even sure the TV cameras panned to the crowd once during the whole encounter. 

Mr. Kyrgios’ false allegation was broadcast to, and read by, millions around the world, causing me and my family very substantial damage and distress.

"Causing me and my family very substantial damage and distress." My goodness is that a leap and a half. Honestly if I were her I'd rather just be known for getting drunk at a sports event rather than being the extremely annoying sober person in the stands who chose to both the players on the court competing for a grand slam championship. To each their own I suppose. 

In other news Kyrgios currently sits at a juicy +700 to win the US Open which gets going next week. Kyrgios won the Citi Open in DC a few weeks ago before taking out the world no. 1 and defending US Champ Daniil Medvedev in Montreal. He didn't make it far in Cincy which I think helped him get some much needed rest for the next few weeks here. With Djokovic likely not playing and Rafa not 100% fit, it wouldn't shock me at all to see Nick make another deep run. When the draw drops I'd take him to win his quarter at the very least.
