Jennette McCurdy Turned Down $300,000 Dollars From Nickelodeon So She Could Eventually Talk Shit About Them In Her New Book, "I'm Glad My Mom Died"

Jennette McCurdy, who is known for her role as Sam in the popular teen sitcoms "iCarly" and "Sam & Cat," is opening up about what she says was the dark reality behind the fame and glamour of her television days and experiencing abuse from her late mother.

In her new memoir, "I'm Glad My Mom Died," the former TV star reflects on the emotional abuse she says she experienced during her upbringing with her mother, Debbie, who died from cancer in 2013.

McCurdy, 30, writes about her mother's controlling habits, from calorie counting McCurdy's food -- which she says triggered eating disorders for the "iCarly" star -- to her mom giving her showers until she was a teenager.

Jennette McCurdy finally comes back into the spotlight to promote her new book, and to talk shit about Nickelodeon. I'M ALL HERE FOR IT. Before she got into the TV stuff, she gave a little background about the book's title. Long story short, her mom was an asshole. The title is completely unironic, and very funny, and I'm obsessed with her honesty:

In the memoir, McCurdy also alleges that one person, whom she refers to only as "the creator," offered her alcohol when she was underage and that he gave her a back massage.

When "Sam & Cat" was canceled after only one season, McCurdy writes in her book that Nickelodeon attempted to arrange a $300,0000 "thank you" parting gift for her only if she agreed to never publicly speak about her experiences at the network. McCurdy said in her book that she didn't accept the money.

"I have said everything that I want to say about that in the book," she continued when asked again if the network offered her the money. "I hope that anybody whose attention might be piqued by these headlines will consider reading the book because I've said everything in as articulate and thoughtful of a way as I can manage in that book."

Anddddd I've ordered the book. I can't wait to hear more details about Dan Schneider, who is very clearly the person she's directing this shit talk towards AND is also a well known pervert. Somehow this man hasn't been taken down, and I don't get it. There have been countless rumors over the years about his affinity for children, his feet obsession, and everyone who has ever worked closely with him normally clams up and changes the subject when asked about him. Good for Jennette McCurdy for turning down a big pay day like that, knowing that her story needed to come out one day. I don't know if I would have the smarts to do the same in the moment.

In another part of this interview, Jennette talks about how she had hate and jealousy towards Ariana Grande when they worked together on Sam and Cat. Ariana was allowed to take offers and do jobs outside of the network, while Jennette was repeatedly turned down from doing anything other than the show they were on. From Page Six:

“I booked two features during ‘iCarly’ that I had to turn down because the ‘iCarly’ team wouldn’t write me out of episodes to go shoot them,” McCurdy writes in her new memoir, “I’m Glad My Mom Died,” claiming producers would stuff Grande’s character in a box so that she could miss filming.

“Are you. Kidding me,” McCurdy recalls thinking. “So I have to turn down movies while Ariana’s off whistle-toning at the Billboard Music Awards? F–k. This.”

The “Best Player” actress, 30, admitted that once Grande, 29, was allowed to ditch filming, she snapped.

“I’m pissed about it. I’m pissed at her. Jealous of her. For a few reasons,” she writes. “So now, every time she misses work it feels like a personal attack. … From that moment on I didn’t like her. I couldn’t like her.”

DRAMAAAA!!!! So far Ariana hasn't said anything, and I'm positive she won't. She definitely accepted whatever money Nickelodeon threw at her, along with an NDA that's probably built in for the rest of her life. It would be a HUGE move for her to come out in support of Jennette, and I'm sure it'd mean a lot to Jennette, too. I'll be shocked if we see it.
