Billy Mitchell Once Beat His Son In The Final Four Of The Kong Off World Championship

On today's Pardon My Take... BILLY MITCHELL! The legendary gamer joined Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter on today's show to discuss how it feels to always be a winner, what he has to say to his haters, a Mount Rushmore of arcade games, and much more. Mitchell appeared in-studio with a handful of great stories, and also brought in a box of various items to present to the crew. One of the items he showed off was a championship belt, with a very cool backstory explaining his path to winning it all in a Donkey Kong tournament back in 2019. Take a look:

Mr. Cat: I want that... OH! He put the belt on his shoulder, what does it say?

Billy Mitchell: Well, that's when I went down to Australia for the Kong Off World Championship.

Mr. Cat: 2019 Australian Kong Off Champion.

Billy Mitchell: Now, there's great people there, great guys there. And I gave them an ass-whooping.

Mr. Cat: Yeah, was it even close? Was there anyone even close?

Billy Mitchell: There's great players there. However, it goes down to a group of 16, just like March Madness. The first guy I had to play was a friend, and he was a cream puff.

Mr. Cat: Yeah, come on.

Billy Mitchell: The next guy I had to play was really, really good. He actually won it last year. His name was Andrew. So now, brace yourself here. You're really going to think a little of me. The next guy had to face off against... was my son.

Mr. Cat: Really?!

Mr. Commenter: Well that's kind of cool...

Billy Mitchell: We're down to the Final Four and I got to play my son and I'm thinking, like, "Can we change this around a little bit?"

Mr. Cat: Yeah, did you wax him though?

Billy Mitchell: No, I say to him, though, he's good. But I said to him, "Hey, I'll let you win. You can beat these guys." He goes, "You better not." I mean, my son's a soldier, so there was no, I played, I had a good game, he didn't. I won. So then, we went down to the final championship against a guy named Steve, a great guy, and yes, I won.

Mr. Cat: Love it.

Mr. Commenter: That's kind of great, though. Your lineage is 50% of the Final Four. It's incredible.

Mr. Cat: When you say soldier, he's in the US military.

Billy Mitchell: Yes, he's a graduate of West Point.

Mr. Cat: Got it, okay, alright. Because, you know, it's tough when video games get involved, we have a guy around here who pretends that he's a soldier because he plays Call of Duty, yeah.

Billy Mitchell: Yeah, it's kind of like when someone says, "What do yo do for a living?" "Oh hi, Billy. I'm a model." "Yeah? Where do you model?" "Instagram."

Damn. A ricochet shot at a certain someone here, but it's all in good fun. I don't know exactly what it is, but every word that comes out of Billy Mitchell's mouth is fascinating. It may be the confidence he speaks with, it may be the profession he's in, or a mixture of both.
