PLEASE BE TRUE: Andrew Garfield Is Rumored To Be Returning For More Spider-Man Movies At Marvel

[Giant Freakin Robot]

Andrew Garfield isn’t done with Marvel just yet. After his instantly classic team-up with the Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire versions of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Garfield is coming back for more. Our trusted and proven source has confirmed the Oscar-nominated actor has signed the dotted line to come back for more Marvel flicks.

I wouldn't normally plug something like this, but based on how successful Andrew Garfield's role was in the last Spider-Man film and the fact that Marvel is setting up a major multiversal conflict/crossover, I feel like it'd be more surprising if we don't see the Amazing Spider-Man iteration of Peter Parker at least once more.

I've only recently acquainted myself with this news source. However, they claim to have over 350 confirmed scoops and have a whole-ass page dedicated to scoops they've hit on — such as knowing Vecna was the villain of Stranger Things 4 months before the newest season of the Netflix smash hit premiered. How many blindfolded throws at the dartboard have they had to reach that 350 figure? I know not. All I do know is, there's at least some hope alive for Andrew Garfield to play Spider-Man again.

Then on Thursday, we had a viral tweet that gave us further smoke to the fire that Garfield may indeed be returning as the iconic web-slinging superhero:

I will say, "Mr. Scoop" is a self-professed parody account, yet in the replies, has indicated that they're not joking around with this one. In the process of writing this post I've had my second instance of deja vu just today. I can only hope that means in an alternate timeline somewhere else in the multiverse, this for sure happened.

Without getting too deep/inside baseball with it, the Secret Wars project referred to above deals with many different variants/iterations of the same Marvel characters. Thus, there's room for Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to play Spider-Man in that, in addition to others if that's the way they want to go.

Many have been clamoring for an Amazing Spider-Man 3 since Garfield basically stole the show in No Way Home. If that's the last time he suits up for this particular part, he knocked it out of the park and had to feel a strong sense of closure. That said, Garfield is one of the best actors of his generation and loves this character to bits. Why not give him a crack?

Poor guy, though. Dealing with another round of Spider-Man speculation. His reaction to all this (probably):

Giphy Images.

Whatever the veracity of these rumors is, if Garfield does reprise his role, Sony must give way to Marvel Studios. Sony can't get out of their own way. They overstuffed the Garfield-led Spider-Man sequel and, without a quirky dual performance from Tom Hardy to bail out the Venom movies, they'd be in an even worse spot on their stand-alone Spidey projects.

One of Andrew Garfield's best performances ever was with the public at large when he denied his involvement in No Way Home all the way up to release. It planted enough doubt in my mind that he and Tobey might not show up for me to be optimally thrilled on opening day. So, if he shoots down any and all reports of playing Spider-Man going forward, you can take that with a grain of salt, too!

And of course, the only appropriate reaction if we ever get to see Andrew/Tobey as Spidey again:
